Job Summary

The Office of Baltimore City Councilwoman Danielle McCray (D-District 2) seeks a dynamic and experienced professional for its Legislative & Constituent Services Aide position. The aide reports to the Chief of Staff and will collaborate with the team to advance the overall legislative, communication, and constituent services strategies. Schedule• 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. with a hybrid office format. • Must be flexible and available for evening and weekend engagements.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 

• Assist in drafting and editing legislative briefs and producing policy research.

• Assist in drafting and editing communication materials.

• Assist in routine constituent services tasks.

• Attend various City Council, legislative, and community-at-large engagements. • Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.

Experience

• 1-2 years of relevant professional experience.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

• Proficient in conflict management and emotional intelligence.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills coinciding with strong analytical skills.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

• Proficient in using social media as a tool for content creation and driving user engagement.

• Proficient in research and issue investigations.

• Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.

• Ability to speak effectively before groups to promote and explain District 2 Office priorities, projects, and updates.

• Ability to work collaboratively and independently on a myriad of assigned tasks.

• Ability to work productively with individuals from diverse backgrounds, identity cohorts, and lived experiences.

• Effective active listener with the ability to openly communicate in various spaces to ensure transparency and understanding and to build consensus.

Background Check                                        

Eligible candidates under final consideration for appointment to positions identified as positions of trust will be required to complete authorization for a Criminal Background Check and/or a Fingerprint screening must be successfully completed. 

Probation 

All persons, including current City employees, selected for this position must complete a mandatory six-month probation.

This position is required to complete a Financial Disclosure pursuant to Sections 7-7, 7-8, and 7-9 of the City Ethics Law. The initial financial disclosure must be submitted within 30 days of hire.
