Legal Specialist

  • Provide effective legal support and counselling to the business in the assigned region to bring clarity and sound understanding of the company’s rights and obligations, anticipate and reduce risks and liabilities, and ensure legal compliance with regards to:
    • Contracts, agreements, transactions, general terms and conditions in the context of all business related matters including, outsourcing, agency, distribution, sales channel, supply, subcontract agreements,
    • Employment law and disciplinary procedures, liaising with Human Resources on a regular basis ; and
    • Selling, advertising and promotional literature.
  • In close cooperation with Corporate Legal, provide support and advice to internal clients with respect to corporate governance, ethics and business conduct, data protection and privacy.
  • Assist in litigation and disputes as assigned, providing FAQ guidance to internal clients on disputes, liaising with outside counsel.
  • Assist in corporate secretarial matters as assigned.
  • From time to time, assist with corporate transactions, new company or office/branch startups, small acquisitions, divestitures, business transfers and closure of entities.
  • Conduct and facilitate trainings on:
    • contract, labor and other legal related topics; and
    • compliance related.
  • Establish priorities and works concurrently on a variety of legal matters.
  • Excellent English written and oral communication skills;
  • Inspires trust and open communication demonstrating interpersonal and business counselling skills;
  • Excellent business and commercial knowledge and understanding;
  • Highly motivated and committed to deliver work of the highest quality and integrity;
  • Ability to quickly and effectively resolve conflict and challenges ;     
  • Ability to work independently with minimal guidance as well as part of a team.
  • Willingness to travel within the region on a regular basis
  • Minimum 3 years in-house or law firm working experiences with a proven track record in commercial contracts, risk management and compliance.
  • Working experiences in a MNC legal department is preferred.
  • Language requirements: China native, Fluent in English.

The Legal function is a key business partner within the assigned country providing legal advice and support across all business segments in a wide range of legal and compliance matters, and in doing so, act as an ethical leader for the benefit of the corporation as a whole. The role covers China and APAC (as assigned) and reports to Regional Counsel.
