Role Purpose

As a Legal and Compliance Coordinator, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the legal and compliance functions of Iress South Africa through efficient administrative management and operational oversight. Success in this role entails maintaining accurate records, facilitating communication between stakeholders, and independently managing administrative tasks to ensure the smooth operation of legal, compliance, and operational risk processes.

Your objectives and responsibilities will focus on…

  • Independently manage the preparation, review, and maintenance of legal documents, including agreements, communications and corporate filings.

  • Conduct comprehensive research on legal and regulatory issues, synthesising information to support decision-making and compliance efforts.

  • Take a proactive role in the development and implementation of compliance programs and policies, ensuring alignment with regulatory standards and industry best practices.

  • Lead the monitoring and tracking of compliance activities, deadlines, and obligations, providing timely updates to stakeholders and taking initiative in the resolution of compliance issues.

  • Maintain meticulously organised and up-to-date records of legal and compliance documentation, including contracts, policies, regulatory filings, and operational risk assessments.

  • Manage the internal operations risk register and administrative tasks related to risk management

  • Provide expert-level administrative support to legal and compliance personnel, including drafting correspondence, scheduling meetings, and managing correspondence.

  • Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders, summarising legal, compliance, and operational risk activities, outcomes, and assessments.

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for inquiries from internal and external stakeholders regarding legal, compliance, and operational risk matters, demonstrating thorough knowledge and responsiveness.

  • Drive effective collaboration with cross-functional teams to drive legal, compliance, and operational risk initiatives forward, contributing to the achievement of company goals with a proactive and results-oriented approach.

To be successful in this role you will have…

Qualifications and Certifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Legal Studies, or a related field.

  • Previous experience in a corporate legal or compliance role, with a strong emphasis on administrative management and operational oversight.

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in legal or compliance administration role

  • Legal Administration: Expert-level ability to manage legal document preparation, review, and maintenance independently.

  • Risk Management: Support, track and manage risk issues, incidents and support risk management practices across the organisation.

  • Compliance Support: Thorough understanding of compliance principles and practices, with the ability to lead in the development and implementation of compliance programs.

  • Research Skills: Advanced proficiency in conducting legal and regulatory research, analysing complex information, and providing strategic insights.

  • Organisation and Attention to Detail: Exceptional organisational skills and attention to detail to maintain accurate and up-to-date records of legal, compliance, and operational risk documentation.

  • Communication Skills: Highly effective verbal and written communication skills to facilitate communication between stakeholders and respond to inquiries regarding legal, compliance, and operational risk matters.

  • Administrative Leadership: Demonstrated ability to take initiative, manage multiple priorities, and independently drive administrative processes to achieve organisational objectives.

  • Team Collaboration: Strong collaborative skills to foster effective teamwork and alignment across departments in support of legal, compliance, and operational risk initiatives.
