Purpose of the Role

Provide comprehensive legal advice in corporate and contractual matters, with a strong focus on corporate secretarial responsibilities and supply contracts, supporting the business in a practical and hands-on manner, ensuring regulatory compliance and effective risk management in accordance with TC Energy’s policies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide legal advice to TC Energy Mexico’s Operations, Projects, and Business Development teams, with a practical, business-oriented approach.
  • Handle corporate secretarial matters, including: Corporate governance, Preparation and follow-up of corporate minutes, powers of attorney, and corporate documentation and Coordination with notaries, government authorities, and external advisors.
  • Provide legal support in the management of supply contracts throughout all stages of their lifecycle.
  • Work closely with internal teams such as Supply Chain, Operations, Finance, and Compliance to address legal inquiries in a timely manner.
  • Ensure compliance with TC Energy’s policies, procedures, and Code of Conduct in all legal activities under their responsibility.
  • Coordinate with external counsel and notaries when required.
  • Provide legal support in emergency situations affecting TC Energy Mexico, in accordance with internal protocols.
  • Be part of the Mexico Legal Team (5-6 attorneys) and collaborate on an ongoing basis with TC Energy’s legal teams in Canada and the United States.

Education and Experience

  • Law degree (licensed attorney, with valid professional license).
  • At least 5 years of experience at a reputable law firm and/or within a relevant corporate environment.
  • Solid experience in corporate law and corporate secretarial matters, as well as commercial contracts, preferably supply or services agreements.
  • Advanced English proficiency, with the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing in professional and cross-border environments (Indispensable).

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong ability to provide business-oriented legal advice with a clear understanding of operational needs.
  • Ability to manage multiple legal matters simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and collaborative working skills.
  • High level of organization, attention to detail, and follow-up.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
  • Availability to travel, as required.
