Our Team:

The role is part of a strategic business partner for SPC and relevant corporate functions of Sanofi China, by providing quality and efficient legal support to the business strategy and operation for internal clients.

Main responsibilities:

  • Be a strategic business partner for Immunology +Rare Disease business franchise, MA, Trade, GTMC in Sanofi China, actively be involved in the design of collaboration, commercial or business strategies and business models for foundation business, working closely with business teams and cross functions to propose options, delivering consistent, pragmatic legal advice, guidance, recommendations, supporting project contracts and implementation of projects;
  • Shaping legal awareness foundation of internal clients, including without limitation delivering guidance and training (different law pillars);
  • Anticipate and digest relevant new legislations and enforcement trends, communicate with government authorities to understand the most recent regulatory development, and advise business team on the legal interpretation and opportunities for the company’s operations and business strategy;
  • Lead effective discussions with members of Legal team and other team, when needed, to identify the specific needs and maintain consistency of legal standards to meet local business requirements with minimized and manageable systematical risks;
  • Handle legal disputes through negotiation, mediation or litigations/arbitrations/other legal proceedings;

  • Manage escalating external pressure from external governments, engage in sophisticated government relations and negotiations with external authorities;
  • Perform in newly-established provincial Access platforms, Legal structuring, risk assessment, and ongoing counsel on novel business models that sit at the intersection of commercial strategy, data usage, and regulatory compliance;
  • Lead China's participation in global major center of excellences (COE) as strategic bridge between global headquarters and the Greater China legal function, ensuring that COE requirements are effectively cascaded, localized, and implemented across the China organization;
  • The launch and scaling of transformation projects and other next-generation commercial initiatives, which require sophisticated legal structuring, risk assessment, and ongoing counsel on novel business models that sit at the intersection of commercial strategy, data usage, and regulatory compliance;
  • Other tasks as assigned by line manager or department head.

About you

  • Experience:

Minimum of 10 years of legal practice with solid experience in reputable law firm or multi-national  company; familiar with operations of pharmaceutical industry investment, commercial transaction and general corporate legal work

  • Soft skills:

Self-motivated, hard-working, detail-minded, clear thinker, quick learner, team player;

Excellent communication skills in both English and Chinese (written &verbal);

Independent strategic judgment on high-stakes, multi-dimensional legal issues;

Ability to operate under sustained internal/external pressures;

Experience in thought leadership role in glocal project or transformation project is a plus

  • Technical skills:

  • PRC Bar Qualification is a must;
  • Good understanding of PRC law, sound business acumen and practically-oriented, ability to identify and resolve legal issues quickly and effectively, ability to provide solution-oriented legal advices.

  • Education:

Bachelor degree in PRC law or above, LLM is a plus
