What will you do?

  • As Legal Counsel in GETS, you will be supporting the global Legal team with a broad range of legal work, except for tax matters, across multiple jurisdictions (AMEA (including India), UK, Europe, and US).
  • Review and/or negotiate complex contractual documents, RFPs/Tenders and other relevant legal documentation for local or international EPC projects
  • Review of non-disclosure agreements, and other ancillary project related documentation
  • Support the various Hub Legal leads on litigation and claims management
  • Review and negotiate IT services procurement contracts, including SaaS, cloud-based solutions, software licensing, managed services, and technology support agreements; partner and advise the IT function accordingly
  • Support the Data Protection Officer on managing data compliance tasks – e.g., maintaining the RoPA, coordinating DPIAs, providing ad-hoc advice to the business on GDPR compliance obligations, and monitoring of AI compliance
  • Assist with legal operational matters such as horizon scanning and legal technology
  • Conduct legal research on a wide range of legal topics (including, for example, corporate sustainability reporting requirements). This could be for the purpose of horizon scanning, or for a point of law that Legal needs to provide advice.
  • Serve as effective Legal partner to the business, offering pragmatic legal advice and support on all legal-related queries/matters with the goal of managing contractual, legal, and regulatory risks

Experience, Education and other Required:

  • A law graduate from a reputable university
  • Admission to the Bar
  • Private practice/in-house experience as a qualified lawyer (preferably international work environments)
  • Possess a strong self-starter doer mindset, problem-solving and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent work ethics and willingness to be challenged, grow, and develop
  • Ability to pivot, context-switch, learn and master new domains of knowledge; versatility and eagerness to learn are key to excelling in this role
  • Strong legal foundations in terms of having a firm grasp of legal concepts, drafting, negotiation, and research skills
  • Diligent, meticulous, and detail-oriented
  • Familiar with legal research tools such as Lexology or Practical Law
  • Some experience in regulatory compliance work (particularly data/AI compliance) is a plus
  • Need to be comfortable with researching different areas of law in different jurisdictions (e.g., interpreting laws and legal documents originating from various jurisdictions)
  • Ability to work in fast-paced cross jurisdictional environments with strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Possess commercial and legal acumen; adept at balancing competing considerations and exercising judgment
  • Occasional travel may be required, within or outside India, based on business need
  • Comfortable with supporting and working within a global team based in different parts of the world and in different time zones
  • Excellent proficiency in English; other languages a plus
