The Opportunity
Eucalyptus is seeking a startup-savvy Legal Counsel to join our growing, collaborative Legal team in Sydney. This is a critical role for a commercially-minded lawyer who wants to work at the intersection of growth marketing, regulatory compliance, and healthcare innovation.
You will partner closely with our Growth, Patient Support and Operations teams to enable accelerated patient acquisition and brand growth while ensuring compliance with Australia's complex healthcare, consumer, advertising and regulatory frameworks. You will get to work on interesting and novel issues as we scale our digital healthcare brands across multiple therapeutic categories, in multiple markets globally.
This role will report to the Senior Legal Counsel and Head of Public Policy and will be responsible for advising on all major regulatory matters, supporting compliance initiatives, and providing guidance to business teams on navigating the unique legal landscape of digital healthcare.
About The Role (What You'll Be Doing)
- Advise on advertising campaigns across all channels and review marketing materials for compliance with therapeutic goods and health services advertising, consumer protection, and spam laws
- Guide influencer partnerships, brand collaborations, and content marketing initiatives
- Monitor developments in healthcare regulations and ensure compliance with TGA, AHPRA, and pharmacy/poisons legislation
- CSupport telehealth compliance and coordinate with external legal advisors and regulatory bodies as needed
- Advise on Australian Consumer Law, privacy, and data protection requirements, including privacy policies and consent mechanisms
- Review customer-facing terms, policies, and consent mechanisms to support compliant customer experience initiatives
- Partner with trust, patient experience, commercial, and product teams on day-to-day legal matters across healthcare brands
- Build advertising review processes, develop training materials, and implement compliance policies
- Maintain documentation to demonstrate regulatory compliance
About You (Who You Are)
- Law degree with Australian practiscing certificate and 3-5 years PQE in commercial, regulatory, or health law
- Experience in advertising, marketing, or consumer protection (firm or in-house)
- Understanding of digital marketing, e-commerce, healthcare regulatory frameworks, and privacy/data protection
- Excellent drafting and communication skills with ability to explain complex legal concepts clearly and simply
- Strong commercial judgment, able to manage competing priorities in fast-paced startup environments
- Collaborative problem-solver who is responsive, proactive, and thrives in ambiguity
