While the focus of this role will be on U.S. operations, the Accident & Health (A&H) Business Unit is growing internationally. You'll collaborate with U.S., Canadian and cross-functional partners to support broader organizational goals. If you enjoy problem-solving across new markets and want to grow beyond pure regulatory work into corporate and strategic advisory matters, this role is for you.
You will serve as a day-to-day legal advisor for U.S. healthcare, regulatory, and compliance matters, translating complex laws, rules and regulations into clear, actionable business guidance across departments. You will provide guidance on new products launches, product revisions, enhancements and implementation of services.
This individual will work hand-in-hand with all A&H business units including Actuarial, Claims, Finance, IT, Product, Operations and Underwriting, as well as interact with TPAs, vendors and service partners. The position will require a strict adherence to corporate policies and business ethics, a strong sense of individual responsibility and an attention to detail. A team player mentality is required as the position will interact with a diverse group of personalities.

What will you do in this role?
Work with A&H Product Development, Marketing, Underwriting, Claims and Operations:
Provide legal review and practical guidance for A&H product launches, marketing campaigns and implementation of new products and services
Provide regulatory advice and legal review of advertising and marketing materials related to the sale of A&H products, including consumer-facing disclosures, enrollment platforms, customer communications and fulfillment packages
Draft, review and negotiate A&H insurance and reinsurance transactional agreements such as NDAs, insurance program manager agreements, administrative services agreements, letters of credit, security agreements, letters of authority, vendor contracting, third party claim handling agreements, etc.
Responsible for company and vendor regulatory fraud training and reporting for U.S. legal entities
Provide legal assistance in connection with the preparation and submission of A&H form and rate filings, including responding to form/rate filing objections from Departments of Insurance
Provide legal assistance in response to complaints, regulatory inquiries and market conduct investigations/exams
Research unique legal issues impacting the organization by identifying applicable laws, rules, regulations and judicial decisions
Keep updated on legislative and regulatory changes that may affect the company and its partners

About you:

What you need to have:
5-7 years of experience in legal or regulatory compliance
A J.D. from a U.S. law school and a member of good standing of at least one state’s bar association
Practical working knowledge of Accident & Health insurance compliance and regulatory requirements, including state and federal healthcare-related laws that impact our business (e.g., PPACA, ERISA)
Familiarity with privacy and data security, including HIPAA, GDPR, state consumer privacy laws, and AI regulations
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to translate complex regulatory concepts into actionable guidance
The ability to tackle a variety of legal issues with a proactive approach to getting things done
Proficient in legal research
Excellent PC skills and knowledge of Microsoft product suite
For this position, we currently expect to offer a base salary in the range of $100,000 to $125,000 (GA), $130,000 to $155,000 (NY). Your salary offer will be based on an assessment of a variety of factors including your specific experience and work location.
In addition, you will be offered competitive target incentive compensation, with awards based on overall corporate and individual performance.
