[What the role is]

Nanyang Polytechnic is seeking a dedicated and experienced Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Applied Mathematics to join our School of Engineering. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in educating and inspiring the next generation of engineers, providing high-quality instruction in applied mathematics and its practical applications in engineering fields.

[What you will be working on]

  • Design, develop and deliver applied Mathematics and Science curricula to students.
  • Lead and/or represent the school in committees such as in-reach, out-reach, academic operations and student development, as and when required.
  • Identify and spearhead new opportunities, initiatives and collaborations within the polytechnic and/or with industry partners.
  • Plan, lead, manage and undertake projects or co-developed training courses with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Plan, develop and deliver Continuing Education and Training (CET) programmes for adult learners and industry partners.
  • Conduct and contribute to research efforts in teaching and learning.
  • Perform academic, administrative and other related duties as assigned.
  • Mentor and guide students in both academic and personal development.

[What we are looking for]

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in Mathematics, Physics or Statistics.
  • At least 2 years of relevant work/industrial experience in a related field, preferably involving applications of Mathematics and/or Science.
  • Possess relevant knowledge and skills in the following areas:
    • Design and development of curricula in applied Mathematics
    • Pedagogy and effective teaching/assessment practices
    • Good IT skills and competency in working with online learning platforms
    • Use of Excel for data analysis, reporting and instructional support
  • Strong communication and good interpersonal skills, with the ability to meet deadlines and multi-task.
  • Candidates who are conversant in blended learning, tech-enabled teaching tools and project-based learning will have an advantage.
