  • Salary Academic Level B + 17% Superannuation and Flexible Working Arrangements

  • Based at the Melbourne CBD campus, but may be required to work and/or be based at other campuses of the University

About The Position


The Lecturer (Education Focused) will specialise in contemporary educational practice and scholarship, delivering high-quality teaching and learning across undergraduate, Masters and Graduate Diploma programs. With strong disciplinary knowledge and experience in social science, policy studies, and youth studies and youth work, the Lecturer will design and facilitate impactful learning experiences while maintaining and advancing their scholarly, professional and educational expertise. They will actively promote and strengthen the program by fostering partnerships and networks across academic, industry and professional communities. 

Working collaboratively within the teaching team, the Lecturer will contribute to shared curriculum development, communicate emerging developments in their field, and may undertake program leadership or course coordination responsibilities. As an education-focused academic, they will play a key role in enriching the broader education community and enhancing student outcomes.

To be successful in this position, you’ll have: 

  • Ability to design and deliver programs at undergraduate and post-graduate levels, including online delivery, and the ability to produce high quality curriculum or program materials.

  • Passion and commitment for innovation of education and learning.

  • Evidence of ability to motivate, inspire, support and negotiate sensitively with, students from diverse backgrounds.

  • A record of demonstrable scholarly and professional outcomes in a relevant discipline area.

  • Ability to build effective networks with colleagues and generate alternative funding projects through effective liaison with industry and government.

  • Excellent planning and organisation skills.

  • High-level interpersonal and communications skills appropriate for interacting with students, staff and building professional links with industry, together with a strong commitment to teamwork and multidisciplinary collaboration.

  • Demonstrated experience in delivering curriculum in contemporary policy studies, youth studies and youth work

  • A demonstrated commitment to valuing lived experience
