POSITION SUMMARY

The Lecturer is expected to contribute to the teaching and research activities of the University, in disciplines related to their field of expertise. Specifically, the incumbent is responsible for carrying out teaching activities within undergraduate program of Bachelor of International Studies and maintaining and advancing their scholarly, research and/or professional capabilities.

The Lecturer position is expected to actively promote the program by establishing and maintaining memberships, links and partnerships with academic, industry and professional communities. The Lecturer role is also expected to work collaboratively and collegially with fellow academics within the teaching team, and update colleagues and students on developments in their subject area or specialisation. The appointee will be located at RMIT’s Saigon campus and will be expected to travel to other RMIT Vietnam campuses as required.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Deliver undergraduate teaching including designing courses, conducting and moderating assessments, implementing improvements informed by peer review, course evaluation and/or student feedback.
  • Undertake independent professional activities, scholarship and/or conduct high quality research activities appropriate to the profession or discipline, publishing research results (traditional and/or non-traditional) in high quality outlets as lead or co-author, preparing and submitting external research funding applications, and supervising higher degree by research candidates.
  • Undertake administration duties and participate in University governance activities related to the position.
  • Adhere to the Academic Expectations and Development Framework of RMIT Vietnam.

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA

  • Must have PhD or equivalent relevant doctoral qualification from a recognised institution.
  • Up-to-date experience in Global Studies, International Studies, Development Studies, International Relations or related fields.
  • Demonstrated range of skills relating to the conceptualisation, execution and evaluation of courses, including the capability and competence to teach a range of international studies courses.
  • Recent, strong and sustained performance regarding student outcomes, student experience and feedback; combined with notable experience and demonstrated skill in a wide range of teaching settings.
  • Demonstrated capacity to undertake course coordination and to cooperate effectively with colleagues.
  • Track-record of relevant research activity and peer-reviewed outputs or evidence of contribution to expansion of pedagogical knowledge and scholarly practice.
  • Ability to display appropriate behaviours in line with the RMIT Behavioural Capability Framework (Connectedness, Commitment to Excellence; Imagination and Innovation; Impact; Inclusion; Integrity).

ENGLISH PROFICIENCY REQUIREMENT

English is the language of teaching and communication at RMIT Vietnam. For this role, the minimum requirement is IELTS 7.0 (academic, with no skill less than 6.5) (or equivalent, as outlined in the Recruitment, Selection and Onboarding Guidelines). 


For any role, English Language Proficiency may also be proven by showing successful completion of secondary education to a level qualifying to enter university study while being instructed through the medium of English, as per the RMIT University recognised qualification list.

WORK PERMIT

As an expatriate candidate, you will require a work permit to work in Vietnam. To qualify for a work permit you will need (at minimum) a degree in a relevant field to the position and must be able to provide official written confirmation (statement of service) of at least 3 years’ related experience.
