About the Role

The Lecturer in Nursing will inspire and enhance the student experience with a focus on Nursing topics, especially clinical skills training and/or supervision of students undertaking work integrated learning. This role requires the creation, coordination and conducting of inspiring teaching and undertaking the role of Topic Coordinator when required. It also involves making an independent contribution to the review, renewal, development and design of curricula and courses that are attractive to existing and new cohorts of students.

The Lecturer will prioritise, coordinate, monitor workflow, and nurture students’ creativity and critical‐thinking skills, providing informal day‐to‐day feedback to all staff under their supervision in line with the University’s policies, practices and standards.

To support maintenance of contemporary practice, knowledge and skills, concurrently engaging in practice as a Nurse in a clinical or community setting is also part of this role.

About You

With sustained evidence of excellence in teaching at a tertiary level, you will make an independent contribution to the development, delivery and evaluation of innovative teaching and learning strategies both in the classroom and in clinical education, simulation and student assessment.

Your excellence in verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills enable you to maintain effective relationships with staff, students and industry.

You will have also completed a Doctorate in a relevant field or equivalent clinical experience and professional standing in Nursing and hold and maintain a current membership with a relevant professional association.

You will also be able to demonstrate:

  • Currently registered or eligible for registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) through the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Nurse.

  • Relevant and contemporary clinical experience in a relevant field and ability to maintain concurrently within or outside of this position.

  • Evidence of reflective practice.

  • An understanding of curriculum reviews and internal and external accreditation activities.

Experience in coordinating and/or leading the activities of other staff (desirable).

Demonstrated experience and innovation using e‐learning platforms for teaching purposes (desirable).
