The person in this role will support the Talent Operations Team’s objective to provide centralized, highly repeatable solutions that allow RSM to achieve business goals while balancing the needs of our employees.

 

The Leave of Absence (LOA) Specialist will provide day to day LOA administration for RSM employees and owners, ensuring we deliver an excellent employee experience in the process.  This role will help manage all aspects of the absence process, partnering closely with employees, HR Business Partners and talent teams to ensure a positive and well informed experience during a leave. 

Key responsibilities

  • Responding to LOA inquiries from employees, managers and HR
  • Scheduling meetings with employees, HR and Managers to ensure a positive and informed experience
  • Partner closely with third party administrator to track approvals and resolve discrepancies
  • Assistance with return-to-work processes for employees returning from leave
  • Ensure all leave related actions are accurately processed in all applicable systems and with third-party administrator to ensure employees are paid accurately and correctly
  • Respond to inquiries with timely, accurate and complete information about leaves that may be available to employees under Federal, state, provincial or local law, insurance plans or company policies.
  • Proactively communicate timelines and documentation requests with employees and HR Business Partners.  Ensure that employees are aware of their leave-related responsibilities and of any documentation and notice required to qualify for and to take leave.
  • Helps interpret and clarify LOA policies to address inquiries from employees, HRBPs and managers, escalating further to LOA Senior Specialist and Absence Manager as needed.
  • Conducts vendor and HRIS audits to ensure accuracy of LOA records and resolves discrepancies in a timely manner
  • Participates in weekly issue resolution call with third party leave of absence administrator as needed
  • Administers accommodations requests in coordination with third party vendor based on predetermined guidelines
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 year experience administering LOA programs
  • Minimum of 1 year experience using an HRIS
  • Working knowledge and understanding of HIPAA, FMLA and other applicable legislation
  • Excellent written and verbal communications 
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Strong attention to detail and quality

Preferred Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or related degree
  • Ability to easily and effectively communicate complex information in a meaningful manner
  • Ability to work collaboratively with peers internally and external business partners
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and strong follow-through skills
  • Ability to manage concurrent projects and/or programs
  • Ability to work well under pressure; meet established targets and goals in a high volume, fast-paced and rapidly changing work environment
  • Ability to work independently, effectively prioritize work and consistently meet daily, weekly and monthly deadlines
  • Must be able to efficiently and effectively manage a high volume of inquiries and respond in a timely manner

At RSM, an employee’s pay at any point in their career is intended to reflect their experiences, performance, and skills for their current role. The salary range (or starting rate for interns and associates) for this role represents numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, education, skills, work experience, certifications, location, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.

Compensation Range: $49,800 - $79,200
