The Learning Experience Designer, Pre-Lum and MSP,  will partner with members of the Innovation Product team and university faculty to design and deliver online non-credit program experiences and for-credit courses that motivate, delight, and provide significant learning value to students across the globe, while satisfying university stakeholder concerns and adapting to business needs. They will also serve as a subject matter lead for biological and medical courses within the portfolio. Successful LX Designers have demonstrated experience in instructional design; thrive in a collaborative, remote work environment; possess strong written and oral communication skills; be technologically adaptive; and have the ability to prioritize diverse tasks in order to meet deadlines.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with faculty at partner universities to guide course development and design best-of-their-kind digital learning products. Apply pedagogical best practices and learning design methodology to design a variety of course types, from engaging short courses for teenagers to graduate-level for credit courses. 
  • Steer project towards on-time delivery by building and maintaining strong working relationships with key stakeholders in our partner institutions and with cross-functional team-members. 
  • Conceptualize instructional and interactive content in alignment with the learning objectives.
  • Use AI-assisted authoring tools to generate initial drafts of instructional content. 
  • Review, revise, and curate AI drafted content for clarity, tone and pedagogical accuracy and ensure content aligns with learning objectives and course narrative, particularly for medicine and biology related courses. 
  • Apply biological sciences and/or medical subject-matter expertise to maintain and enhance the pedagogical accuracy and coherence of related course content.
  • Use educational technology tools to create engaging and interactive online instructional content in the Learning Management System in a way that is logical, intuitive, and visually appealing.
  • Maintain and continuously update a strong working knowledge of learning design and development trends, tools, and technology.
  • Manage the delivery of multiple learning projects to ensure the product is delivered on time and in full compliance with contractual obligations.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree 
  • 5+ years experience in applying learning science and instructional design methodologies.
  • Subject-matter expertise in the biological and/or medical sciences 
  • Track record of designing, developing, and/or implementing high impact digital/online learning programs using various technologies and innovative approaches.
  • Knowledge of learning management systems (LMS), digital media platforms, and other digital learning tools 
  • Possess the EQ skills to work effectively with strong personalities, university faculty who have differing views regarding curriculum and course design, and those who may be new/resistant to digital teaching methods.
  • Knowledge of WCAG 2.1 accessibility requirements

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in specifically-relevant education valued
  • Canvas experience valued

For full-time positions, Kaplan has two Salary Grades. This position is Salary Grade B: $64,000 - $100,000. The specific compensation offered will be determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to the candidate's qualifications, relevant experience, education, skills, and market data.
