What you will do

Strategic Leadership

  • Implements Vision: Create a compelling picture of how learning enhances hotel performance and aligns with business strategy.
  • Establishes Strategies: Develop long-range learning and human performance strategies to execute the vision.
  • Learning Needs Analysis: Conduct annual Training Needs Analysis (TNA) and produce a Training Plan aligned with property goals and budget.

People Development

  • Facilitate onboarding programs (e.g., Embark, Service Foundations, Leadership Behaviors).
  • Manage New Leader Orientation (NLO) to support managers through their 90-day probation.
  • Maintain and develop Certified Departmental Trainers (CDTs), including coaching and workshops.
  • Train managers and Planning Committee members to deliver departmental training.
  • Act as an objective advisor in counseling and conflict situations related to learning.

Operational Learning

  • Partner with hotel management to identify performance gaps using Glitch Reports, Guest Comment Cards, and Spotter Reports.
  • Co-facilitate training activities and coach managers to ensure consistent departmental training.
  • Drive standards achievement through testing, campaigns, and initiatives.

Compliance

  • Manage all compliance and safety training in collaboration with People & Culture.
  • Ensure hotel meet mandatory training and policy requirements.

Program Design & Delivery

  • Rapidly create and adapt blended learning programs targeting management competencies.
  • Prepare and publish monthly/quarterly training calendars.
  • Market learning programs and initiatives internally.
  • Evaluate training effectiveness through measurable results and behavioral change.

Administration & Budget

  • Maintain accurate training attendance records and reports.
  • Create and manage annual training budget.
  • Benchmark learning function against corporate success levels.

Key Functions

  • People: Build credibility, coach trainers, develop relationships with new hires, and partner with management.
  • Product: Deliver core programs, update standards manuals, produce reports, and support committees.
  • Profit: Measure ROI of training, analyze service gaps, and ensure budget adherence.

What you bring

Education: University degree or equivalent experience.

Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years in a managerial capacity.
  • L&D management experience preferred.
  • Hotel operations experience, ideally luxury hospitality in diverse cultures.

Skills:

  • Excellent communication, facilitation, instructional design, coaching, and influencing skills.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities.

Knowledge:

  • Adult learning principles and styles.
  • Needs assessment methodologies.
  • Learning technologies (e-learning, distance learning).
  • Evaluation models (e.g., Kirkpatrick’s 4 Levels).
  • Project planning tools and processes.
  • HR systems integration (recruitment, performance management).
  • Basic budgeting and financial management.
  • Current industry trends in workplace learning.
