THE ROLE
U@MQ is currently seeking a Learn Swim Supervisor to join the Macquarie University Sports and Aquatics Centre (MUSAC) team. Reporting to the Aquatics Coordinator, the Learn to Swim Supervisor is responsible for the day to day running of the Learn to Swim program. The hours will be spread across weekdays and one weekend day.
This position has become available following an internal promotion, presenting an exciting opportunity for a new team member to join our award-winning swim school.
Macquarie University Sport and Aquatic Centre (MUSAC) is proud to be an award-winning swim school, having been named “Swim School of the Year 2024 and 2025” by the Aquatic & Recreation Institute NSW (ARI NSW) and featured in Australasian Leisure Management for our innovation and excellence in aquatic education, as well as "Best Swim School" in 2024 by Swim Coaches & Teachers Australia (SCTA).
The role includes, but is not limited to:
Provide high quality in-water learn to swim and water safety instruction consistent with MUSACs Learn to Swim program lesson and progression plans.
Supervise and ensure the smooth delivery of Learn to Swim lessons being conducted whilst maintaining a maximum level of customer service to parents and swimmers.
Identify and resolve complaints and situations using a range of problem-solving and decision-making tools. Resolve in a manner that promotes positive customer service.
Assist in identifying and developing training requirements for the Learn to Swim program, providing training to Learn to Swim Instructors to ensure skill levels are being maintained and are at the required standards.
Assist in developing, and foster strategies to improve team cohesion and performance within the department, eg. awards, high levels of communication etc.
Assist in the planning and delivery of other Learn to Swim program initiatives such as School Sport, Holiday Program water safety, and member retention activities.
Assist the Learn to Swim Coordinator with the general management of the program including assisting with rostering, timetabling, responding to enquiries and resolving issues or complaints as appropriate to the level of this role.
Comply with relevant EEO and WHS regulations.
Perform any other duties as required and appropriate for this classification.

ABOUT YOU
You have a customer centric mindset combined with a passion for swimming and teaching. You have the ability to work well in a team environment, as well as the initiative to work independently.
In addition, you meet the following key criteria:
Experience in teaching all levels/age groups of Learn to Swim (LTS) and water safety instruction.
Planning and organising skills, ideally swim programming.
Excellent written and verbal communication as well as strong customer service skills.
Solve problems quickly and constructively.
Enthusiastic, fun and a passion for teaching swimming to children.
Supervisory Experience is desirable.
Regulatory requirements:
AUSTSWIM or Swim Australia Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety
First Aid Certificate with CPR.
Working with Children Check.
Criminal history check.

AUSTSWIM or Swim Australia Teacher of Infants and Preschool desirable, but not mandatory.
