Project Selborne is a Transformational Training programme with a strategic goal of modernising Royal Navy training to deliver âbetter trained sailors to the front line fasterâ.
Your role will be to lead and deliver high quality Divisional, Leadership and Management training within the Royal Navy Leadership Academy (RNLA) ensuring all outputs align with contractual requirements, company standards, and Royal Navy expectations. Provide line management to educators, oversee training operations within the designated training area, and play a key role in modernising and improving training delivery.

Job Description:
What youâll be doing
- Deliver Divisional, Leadership and Management training in accordance with the contracted Training Plan (SOTT/SOTT+/SOR), with primary delivery to DOC, DOC RNR, EWO, SRLC and LRLC courses.
- Play an active role in delivering training within own area of expertise, contributing directly to course quality and learner experience.
- Provide line management, guidance and support to educators, ensuring they remain Suitably Qualified and Experienced (SQEP) to deliver the required training.
- Coordinate training delivery and training operations across the designated training area, ensuring effective team performance and seamless course delivery.
- Support training planning to ensure course delivery meets the contracted training schedule and programme.
What weâre looking for:
Essential:
- Proven experience in managing and developing people in a structured environment (e.g., education, uniformed services, regulated industries, or large organisations).
- Demonstrated ability to mentor, coach and support individuals through professional or personal development processes.
- Practical experience in designing, delivering and evaluating training using recognised instructional design methods (e.g., DSAT, ADDIE, or other competencyâbased training frameworks).
- Strong background in pastoral care, wellbeing support, or learner support roles.
- Experience producing clear, evidenceâbased reports, assessments, and documentation.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage confidently with learners, stakeholders and senior leaders.
Desirable:
- Previous experience as a Royal Navy Divisional Officer, team leader, department lead, or similar peopleâdevelopment role.
- Experience working within a military, emergency services, publicâsector, or similarly structured environment (but not essential).
- Familiarity with competence management systems, progression frameworks or performance development processes.
- Experience supporting individuals with welfare, conduct, performance or behavioural issues.
- Involvement in policy interpretation, safeguarding, or regulatory compliance within an educational or training setting.
Desirable Courses / Qualifications:
- Instructional design or training qualification, such as:
- DSAT practitioner experience (Service background).
- Or civilian equivalents (e.g., ADDIE, CIPD L&D, Level 4 Award in Education & Training).
- Coaching or mentoring qualification (ILM, EMCC, or inâhouse equivalent).
- Safeguarding training (Level 2 or above).
- Mental health / wellbeing awareness training (e.g., MHFA or organisational equivalent).
- Leadership & management training (ILM, CMI, or Service equivalent).
