ABOUT US

The Salvation Army is a Christian movement and one of Australia's largest and most-loved charities.  We believe in doing good that transforms lives and futures for the better.  It is this belief which drives us to find new ways and places where we can make a difference. From times of personal crisis to moments of national grief, we are always here — providing support, safety, community, and opportunity.

Empower leaders. Strengthen mission. Shape the future.

Do you believe in the power of leadership to transform communities? Are you passionate about equipping others to lead with purpose, clarity, and impact?

We are seeking a Frontline Leadership Development Coordinator to play a pivotal role in shaping and strengthening leadership across our Frontline Mission Support stream. This is more than a coordination role—it’s an opportunity to weave together people, purpose, and pathways that empower leaders across Children, Youth & Young Adults, and Faith Communities nationwide.

The opportunity

  • Full-time, permanent role based in Redfern
  • Circa $91,000.00 + superannuation
  • A supportive and mission-driven team environment

About the Role
This position is designed to bring unity, consistency, and strength to leadership development across our stream. Rather than delivering training directly, you will sit at the heart of our leadership ecosystem—coordinating programs, connecting teams, and ensuring that every initiative aligns with our shared mission.

You will enable our specialist teams to thrive by providing structure, clarity, and cohesion—ensuring that leadership pathways are accessible, effective, and impactful across diverse ministry contexts.

Occasional travel and some after-hours commitments (such as webinars) may be required.

How you will make an impact

  • Coordinate leadership development initiatives across the stream, including training frameworks, coaching, and mentoring systems
  • Support the delivery of training programs, webinars, and capability-building opportunities for frontline leaders
  • Develop and maintain a national library of high-quality, accessible training resources
  • Partner with Divisions, Area Officers, and frontline leaders to ensure resources are relevant and adaptable
  • Foster collaboration across Children, Youth & Young Adults and Faith Communities teams to ensure consistent leadership pathways
  • Build strong internal partnerships to align leadership development with broader mission outcomes
  • Act as a central coordination point, supporting leaders to access and engage with development opportunities
  • Manage evaluation and continuous improvement of leadership initiatives
  • Champion innovative, scalable, and future-focused approaches to leadership formation
  • Collaborate with People & Culture, Officer Personnel, and Eva Burrows College to leverage broader organisational initiatives

You will bring

  • Experience in project coordination and leadership development within ministry and/or organisational settings
  • Strong understanding of The Salvation Army’s mission, culture, and structure
  • Proven ability to manage complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives
  • Experience in developing leadership or training resources
  • A collaborative mindset with excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • A passion for empowering others and strengthening leadership at every level

Requirements

  • National Police Check
  • Working with Children Check
  • Completion of required training modules
  • A genuine commitment to The Salvation Army’s mission, vision, and values
