Who You Will Work With:
The vacant Leader, Product Design(12 Month Fixed-Term Contract) role will report to the Head of Design at Interac and will be responsible for ensuring the success of a product through leading a team of Product Designers. This team focuses on product design, product strategy support, customer experience research, agile squad team design processes, and continuous user testing. An individual in this critical role will split their time between: Managing, advising and coaching a team of Product Designers (~25%); Working with the leadership team on the direction of the business and its operational effectiveness (~20%); Serving as a ‘player coach’ working on product improvements and squad-team design deliverables (~45%), and; Helping improve the operations of the Interac Design organization (~10%).
What You Will Do:
Collaborating with the cross-functional leadership team to define the product vision, strategy and goals, and ensuring work activities are focused on delivering on the vision, strategy and goals
Defining and communicating a clear design vision aligned with the overall product vision
Overseeing the iterative design process, from idea discovery to concepting to product market fit testing and finally to product launches, incorporating user research and testing at every stage to ensure the product achieves its stated goals
Overseeing all product design activities, ensuring the work is high quality and delivered on time and on budget
Managing and leading a team of Product Designers, providing support on squad team deliverables, and individual career development planning and coaching
Evaluating design resource needs of the team, and leading the recruiting, hiring, and onboarding of top design talent in a timely fashion
Providing guidance on product delivery operations, ensuring high-quality design outputs and the effective collaboration between product, design, and engineering teams
Defining and implementing effective product design best practices and tools that can be adopted by product design teams across Interac
Championing, evangelizing, and influencing the adoption of the Human Centred Design method across Interac, working with other Product Design Leaders to make product design a core competency and differentiator across the organization
What You Bring:
Expertise in Product Design and Human Centred Design methodologies
Hands-on experience with industry standard design tools, such as Figma, Figjam, Adobe XD, or similar
Eligibility to work for Interac Corp. in Canada in a full-time capacity
The ability to create interactive prototypes and wireframes to visualize design concepts
Experience designing scalable Design Systems and maintaining design libraries
Expertise in conducting usability testing, synthesizing insights, and sharing learnings with leaders and peers
Experience building a design team and implementing product design best practices
Experience working in an environment with a Product Operating Model where complex products move from idea discovery to scaled growth
Strong leadership skills – You are a confident, empathetic leader
Strong communication, analytical, and decision-making skills
Excellent interpersonal skills and a proven ability to work effectively within a matrixed organization

The hiring range for this position is 160K-185K, and you will also be eligible for our short-term incentive plan.
