As a Lead Vascular Technologist, you will direct the daily testing in Vascular labs across multiple Martin Health sites as well as work closely with the Vascular medicine physicians to provide World Class Service. You will also perform various echo exams, carotid ultrasounds, arterial studies and transcranial scans. This is a great opportunity for experienced techs to expand their capabilities and gain skills that not all Vascular Technologists have. Every day, you can make a lasting difference in the lives of patients by ensuring they receive necessary care. 

 

A caregiver in this position works days from 8:30AM – 5:00PM, including rotating weekends and holidays and on-call requirements. 

 

Floating between Martin North, Martin South, Tradition, St. Lucie West and Stuart Family Health Center will be required, as needed. 
 

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

  • Provide supervisory direction, coordination and development of Vascular Lab. 

  • Manage vascular technologists. 

  • Maintain and re-accreditatize Vascular Lab. 

  • Organize quarterly quality Assurance meeting. 

  • Establish and implement operating policies and procedures. 

  • Manage the budget for the Vascular Lab. 

  • Perform carotid duplex, venous duplex, arterial duplex, aortoiliac duplex, penile duplex and renal duplex. 

  • Dictate preliminary reports for physician. 

  • Consult with vascular medicine physician for interpretation of test results. 

  • Maintain records of testing for documentation. 

  • Provide daily account of patient charge requisition with appropriate ICD9 codes. 

  • Provide training and act as a resource for vascular ultrasound students, residents and physicians. 

  • Provide testing for add-on emergency patients. 

  • Maintain continuing medical education requirements for the appropriate professional organization. 

  • Maintain records and documents for accreditation of vascular lab. 

  • Maintain complete and up-to-date documentation and files at all times, including products and service quotes. 

 

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • Graduate from a two-year cardiovascular technologist program 

  • Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) 

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross 

  • Three years clinical experience 

  • Strong interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients, families, physicians and other health care workers 

  • Adequate mathematics skill to maintain accurate record and report 

 

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: 

  • Vascular AND Echo Technologist 

Physical Requirements:

  • Essential Duties: Interact with patients, family's physicians and other health care workers. Good hand coordination for positioning of probe and equipment. Good vision to analyze computer screens and VCR recordings to diagnose test results.

  • Physical Duties: Moderate lifting and positioning of patients. Moderate pushing and pulling of equipment. Working Conditions: 100% air conditioned. Moderate risk of exposure to blood or airborne pathogens.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.
