We are seeking a seasoned Lead Technology and Cybersecurity Risk Professional to join our team in a highly visible role with frequent executive-level interactions. This position is critical to Humana’s success and reputation, requiring exceptional expertise in cybersecurity, IT risk management, regulatory compliance, and contract negotiation. The individual will lead and manage complex engagements with state and federal regulatory agencies, represent Humana IT during high-profile audits, and ensure flawless execution where missteps could result in millions of dollars in direct and indirect impacts. They will have significant impact in the delivery of responses to requesting entities, which influence revenue through customer sales, financial penalties, and the Humana brand.

In addition to core responsibilities, this leader will serve as a trusted advisor to peers, provide processes and guidance on complex issues, and act as a backup to their leader for team management when needed. This role demands resilience under pressure, strategic thinking, and polished presentation skills to communicate effectively with senior leadership and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Regulatory & Audit Leadership

  • Serve as Humana IT’s primary representative during high-profile state, federal and other regulatory audits, ensuring accurate, timely documentation to demonstrate compliance with all applicable requirements. Proactively identify and escalate potential risks, ensuring that regulatory standards are known and organizational exposure is minimized throughout the audit process.
  • Monitor, assess, and communicate emerging regulations impacting healthcare and technology operations to IT stakeholders and senior leadership.
  • Develop and present risk analyses and recommendations based on regulatory and external inquiry trends and insights to senior leadership.
  • Lead preparation and response to  complex regulatory audits, using expert and strategic judgement and decision making, to ensure accuracy, timeliness and alignment with regulatory requirements and business objectives.

Inquiry & Contract Management

  • Respond to customer security and technology questionnaires, RFPs, and regulatory inquiries with precision and clarity.
  • Engage in written and verbal discussions, presentations and negotiations with customers, vendors, and regulators to explain Humana’s technology and cybersecurity posture, while protecting Humana’s interests.

Leadership & Advisory

  • Provide guidance and support to peers on complex cybersecurity and regulatory matters.
  • Act as a backup for team leadership responsibilities when required.
  • Drive continuous improvement in development and enhancement of team and cross-functional processes and tools related to audits and inquiries.

  • Task Management and Prioritization: Demonstrates the ability to effectively manage multiple assignments simultaneously by organizing tasks, setting clear priorities, and maintaining a high standard of quality across deliverables. Utilizes strong time management and problem-solving skills to adapt to shifting demands and deadlines, ensuring consistent progress and successful completion of responsibilities.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Security, Computer Science, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Extensive experience in cybersecurity, IT risk management, and regulatory compliance.
  • Proven ability to manage high-stakes audits and regulatory engagements.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including executive-level presentations.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage competing assignments by organizing tasks, prioritizing responsibilities, tracking progress, and maintaining high-quality results in a dynamic environment.

Preferred:

  • Advanced degree (MBA, JD, or Master’s in IT-related field).
  • Professional certifications (CISSP, CISM, CISA, CRISC).
  • Experience with security frameworks (NIST 800-53, PCI DSS, HiTrust, ISO27000 series).
  • Familiarity with healthcare regulations and operations.
  • Experience leveraging AI tools for information extraction and analysis.
  • Experience in project management
  • Prior demonstrated experience with process improvement or process design

Additional Information

  • WAH requirements: Must have the ability to provide a high speed DSL or cable modem for a home office. Associates or contractors who live and work from home in the state of California will be provided payment for their internet expense.

  • A minimum standard speed for optimal performance of 25x10 (25mpbs download x 10mpbs upload) is required.  
  • Satellite and Wireless Internet service is NOT allowed for this role.
  • A dedicated space lacking ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI / HIPAA information

Travel: While this is a remote position, occasional travel to Humana's offices for training or meetings may be required.

Pay Range

The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.


 

$117,600 - $161,700 per year


 

This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan. This incentive opportunity is based upon company and/or individual performance.
