Salesforce is seeking an experienced Lead Technical Writer to join the Technology & Missionforce Content Experience (CX) team. Missionforce is one of Salesforce’s fastest-growing and highest-priority initiatives, representing a major investment as we establish ourselves as a leading competitor in a new cloud focused on public sector and defense use cases.

This role is ideal for a senior writer who brings a strong mix of content strategy, UI text, and developer documentation experience, and who is excited to help scale customer-facing content for highly complex, mission-critical solutions.

What You’ll Do

You will work closely with engineers, architects, product managers, and fellow technical writers across Public Sector Solutions and Missionforce to deliver high-quality content supporting the US Department of Defense and Strategic Intelligence customers.

You will also:

  • Lead and scale customer-facing content strategy across multiple Industry verticals and Service Cloud

  • Partner closely with GovCloud and Infrastructure Cloud writers

  • Collaborate with global engineering and content teams across the US and India

  • Operate in a fast-paced, Agile environment while maintaining high content quality and consistency

Key Responsibilities

  • Define content direction, priorities, and strategy for your assigned product areas, making informed tradeoffs as priorities evolve

  • Champion a user-centered approach to content that is intuitive, discoverable, and aligned to customer needs

  • Create and maintain a variety of content types in alignment with Salesforce CX and style guidelines

  • Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure content accuracy, consistency, and usability

  • Track progress and report on content delivery to ensure visibility and alignment with stakeholders

  • Monitor content performance and identify opportunities for continuous improvement in both content and processes

Required Skills & Experience

  • 5+ years of experience creating technical documentation for software products

  • Exceptional written English skills for technical audiences, with writing samples available

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills; proven ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams

  • High attention to detail and a strong commitment to quality

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a dynamic environment

  • Experience with source control tools (e.g., GitHub) and markup languages such as Markdown

  • Familiarity with authoring environments and tools such as Visual Studio Code or Oxygen

  • Experience working with generative AI and LLM-based tools in content creation workflows

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in STEM, English, Journalism, or a related field

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Salesforce Go content guidelines

  • Familiarity with Salesforce data model objects and Metadata API

  • Experience supporting public sector, government, defense, or regulated environments

At Salesforce, we believe in equitable compensation practices that reflect the dynamic nature of labor markets across various regions. The typical base salary range for this position is $155,400 - $213,800 annually. In select cities within the San Francisco and New York City metropolitan area, the base salary range for this role is $169,600 - $233,200 annually. The range represents base salary only, and does not include company bonus, incentive for sales roles, equity or benefits, as applicable.
