The Position

This role of Lead Structural Engineer, Transmission forms part of Acciona’s Power Systems Team and will suit a highly skilled engineer who brings deep structural expertise, a collaborative mindset, and a commitment to shaping sustainable, future-ready infrastructure.  As the Lead Structural Engineer, you will guide the design and delivery of transmission line structures and related infrastructure that supports clean energy integration and enhances community resilience.

Operating within an EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) framework, the position is focused on developing cost-effective, technically robust design solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the full design lifecycle of complex systems, from concept through integration and validation
  • Resolve design conflicts and ensure systems meet performance, reliability, and regulatory standards
  • Lead the development of innovative and sustainable designs aligned with client and industry expectations
  • Apply RAM principles to enhance system maintainability, availability, and reliability
  • Use advanced modelling and simulation tools to validate complex system designs
  • Lead Value Engineering and Whole of Life assessments to improve cost-effectiveness and sustainability
  • Lead collaboration across engineering disciplines for integrated design
  • Evaluate ongoing projects, products and processes to identify and diagnose performance deficiencies, impending or actual failures, and propose remedies and solutions

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
  • Chartered Status (including RPEV, RPEQ, NER & CPEng), or the ability to achieve
  • 7+ years’ senior experience in transmission line structural design (220kV+)
  • Advanced proficiency in PLS-CADD and PLS-Tower, with experience delivering structure designs up to 500kV.
  • Strong understanding of transmission line structures, foundations, loading standards, and relevant Australian and international design codes.
  • Skilled in developing high-quality structural reports, calculations, drawings, schedules, and specifications.
  •  Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of Australian engineering standards and practices
  • Confident leading structural teams in fast-paced, multidisciplinary project environments.
