Job Purpose
The Lead Strategy Manager, GC role partners closely with Sport General Managers to shape strategic direction and drive priority initiatives across Nike’s in Greater China.
This role serves as a strategic thought partner to sport leaders, translating consumer insights, marketplace dynamics, and enterprise priorities into actionable strategies. The role supports the development of 1–3 year strategic roadmaps, drives enterprise strategic initiatives, and enables leadership alignment in core business review cadances.
This role operates independently within a highly matrixed organization.
Key Job Accountabilities
Strategy Development
- Partner with Sport GMs to shape 1–3 year strategic roadmaps for key sports or brands
- Translate consumer insights, marketplace trends, and enterprise priorities into clear strategic choices and actionable plans
Business Review & Leadership Engagement
- Drive core business review gates including quarterly business review, GC business reviews, and executive visits
- Partner with Sport GMs to develop business diagnostics, performance narratives, and forward-looking priorities
Enterprise Strategic Initiatives
- Lead and support enterprise strategic projects that strengthen Nike’s competitiveness
- Structure complex business problems, develop strategic recommendations, and drive cross-functional execution
Strategic Partnership & Thought Leadership
- Serve as a trusted strategic partner and sounding board to Sport GMs
- Drive clarity and alignment across a matrix organization through structured thinking and clear communication
Requirements
- 5–8 years of experience in strategy, consulting, or business planning, experience in top-tier strategy consulting firms or leading consumer brands preferred
- Consumer & sport obsessed, deep curiosity for sport culture, consumer behavior, and marketplace dynamics
- Outstanding strategic thinking & business acumen, ability to structure complex problems and translate insights into clear strategic actions
- Able to independently partner with senior stakeholders and drive clarity
- Exceptional ability to articulate ideas, synthesize complexity, and drive alignment in a matrix organization
- Strong team player who builds trusted relationships and operates effectively with x-functional teams
