Serves as lead technical specialist responsible for advanced maintenance, calibration, and repair of diagnostic and therapeutic imaging systems; including, but not limited to, CT, MRI, Nuclear Medicine, Fluoroscopy, and general diagnostic equipment. Exercises extensive cross-vendor expertise and ensures safe and reliable operation of equipment while supporting clinicians and imaging team members. Provides technical leadership, coordinates work assignments, and delivers training to imaging team members and clinical personnel. Functions independently and drives service initiatives that enhance imaging performance and system availability.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Functions as the primary technical authority for imaging service protocols, troubleshooting processes, and safety compliance.
  • Conducts complex system diagnostics, preventive maintenance, and high-level repairs on high-end imaging equipment, including CT, MRI, and Cath Labs,to maintain clinical uptime targets of 99%. Provides advanced technical support for diagnostic and therapeutic systems, including Diagnostic Imaging and TCP/IP network protocols. Utilizes in-depth knowledge of software applications, antivirus solutions, and firewall configurations to ensure secure and efficient system performance. Performs 100% of equipment repairs and calibrations in coordination with OEM.
  • Provides mentorship, guidance, and training to imaging team members; develops staff proficiency in standard procedures and best practices. Leads and trains imaging team members in installation activities and project workflows, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and quality standards.
  • Prepares and supports imaging team members in generating QA and QC reports for submission to the end-user QA committee, ensuring accuracy and compliance with reporting standards.
  • Maintains a comprehensive understanding of PACS and hospital networking as i t relates to imaging equipment. Works in partnership with IT personnel as necessary.
  • Escalates both local and system-wide issues to the manager, on-call leadership, and relevant internal or external teams, ensuring appropriate communication and resolution.
  • Collaborates with leadership to develop, execute, and maintain efficient workflow processes that support timely completion of priorities and schedules.
  • Collaborates with end users and management to evaluate emerging technologies. Contributes to the development of service manuals and technical bulletins based on investigative findings and comprehensive product knowledge.
  • Evaluates historical equipment performance data to identify root causes of issues and recommends appropriate corrective actions, including repair, replacement, or process adjustments. Identifies service and maintenance trends to inform future strategies and suggests modifications to enhance product longevity and reliability.
  • Supports integration of future technologies by performing upgrades and configuration updates on current and upcoming imaging equipment.
  • Maintains comprehensive and accurate documentation of assigned imaging equipment within the database, including modality-specific records updated in real time. Assigns preventive maintenance (PM) schedules to the imaging team and analyzes reports to assessteam productivity, equipment history, and cost trends to support future replacement planning.
  • Coordinates and facilitates the procurement of parts and supplies in collaboration with end users and the engineering department.
  • Ensures optimal stock levels, manages storage locations, and oversees the logistics of parts inventory. Oversees inventory control in AIMS or equivalent system. Performs other special projects and duties as assigned.

This position is 100% on site reporting to the Weill Cornell Hospital. Shift: Monday - Friday 7a-4p

Required Criteria:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
  • Multiple Imaging OEM Certifications
  • 10+ Years’ experience diagnosing and repairing medical imaging equipment
  • Develop and maintain proficiency in secondary imaging modalities to ensure effective backup coverage
  • Exhibit extensive technical expertise across all imaging modalities within the medical imaging disciplines
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills across all organizational levels and external stakeholders
