As part of the Checkout squad, you'll own the integration and evolution of our Checkout product used across over 40,000 ANZ merchant websites. Focused on both the front and backend of the checkout, the team uses modern tech to solve interesting challenges at pace, accountable for the technology that enables millions of customers to transact with Zip.

What you'll own

As a Lead Software Engineer, you will help design and deliver scalable, secure, and efficient checkout experiences.

  • Architectural Ownership: Lead the end-to-end development of highly resilient APIs and microservices, setting the standard for technical excellence and maintainability within the domain.
  • Drive technical alignment by collaborating across teams to define solutions that successfully reconcile long-term architectural health with critical business objectives.
  • Take end-to-end technical ownership of significant features, setting the bar for code quality, testing, and robust architectural contribution within the squad.
  • Identify and implement key improvements to core integration patterns, developer tooling, and system observability to elevate the engineering standard for the Checkouts ecosystem.
  • Provide technical mentorship and guidance to junior and mid-level engineers, proactively sharing deep expertise and championing modern engineering best practices.

  • Deep experience with API design, integration strategies, and APM.
