Lead Software Engineer

About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Software Engineer for the Money Movement Product Technology team within WIMT. This role designs and delivers secure, scalable platforms supporting critical payment and transfer capabilities. The engineer applies strong software fundamentals, technical leadership, and AIenabled automation to modernize money movement workflows, improve straightthrough processing, and enhance client experience within a regulated financial environment.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead complex technology initiatives including those that are companywide with broad impact
  • Act as a key participant in developing standards and companywide best practices for engineering complex and large scale technology solutions for technology engineering disciplines
  • Design, code, test, debug, and document for projects and programs
  • Review and analyze complex, large-scale technology solutions for tactical and strategic business objectives, enterprise technological environment, and technical challenges that require in-depth evaluation of multiple factors, including intangibles or unprecedented technical factors
  • Make decisions in developing standard and companywide best practices for engineering and technology solutions requiring understanding of industry best practices and new technologies, influencing and leading technology team to meet deliverables and drive new initiatives
  • Collaborate and consult with key technical experts, senior technology team, and external industry groups to resolve complex technical issues and achieve goals
  • Lead projects, teams, or serve as a peer mentor

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • 5+ years of handson .NET C# experience
  • 2 + years of RESTful or SOAP web services

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with Generative AI, including using GenAI tools to develop/manage code workflows, designing and implementing GenAI workflows, and building solutions using agentic AI frameworks
  • Experience architecting, designing, and managing applications endtoend
  • Experience with container orchestration platforms such as OpenShift
  • Strong software engineering background with experience building and operating productiongrade systems (e.g., distributed services, APIs, CI/CD integrations).
  • Demonstrated experience applying Generative AI and/or agentic AI to realworld workflows, including LLMbased automation, AI agents, or copilots embedded in developer tools or platforms.
  • Ability to translate engineering and delivery pain points into AIdriven solutions with measurable impact (e.g., flow efficiency, quality, cycle time, or developer productivity).
  • Strong collaboration skills with product, platform, and architecture partners, and the ability to influence SDLC evolution through working software rather than process alone
  • 3+ years of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologies
  • 3+ years of experience building CI/CD pipelines and deploying applications to cloud environments
