Lead Software Development Engineer

Thomson Reuters is seeking an experienced Lead Software Development Engineer (SAP) to join our product development team, working on cutting-edge integrations between SAP ECC & S/4 HANA and our ONESOURCE suite of products. This is an exciting opportunity to drive innovation, expand your technical expertise across multiple SAP platforms, and make a significant impact on products used by customers worldwide.

As part of our international product development team, you'll collaborate with talented engineers across multiple geographies, work directly with SAP as a partner, and have visibility into the full product lifecycle—from architecture and development to go-to-market activities and customer engagement. You'll have the autonomy to drive innovation, adopt SAP's latest technology offerings, and expand your expertise across multiple SAP platforms while mentoring the next generation of SAP developers.

About the Role

In this opportunity as a Lead Software Development Engineer (SAP), you will:

· Drive transformation and innovation of existing and new Thomson Reuters SAP products, adopting SAP's latest technology offerings to deliver higher value to customers

· Design and develop architecture for SAP integrated solutions to the ONESOURCE Suite of Products (e.g., Indirect Tax, Pagero E-Invoice), handling complex development challenges that require creative problem-solving

· Lead development teams responsible for SAP Integrations, ensuring deliverables are completed within scope, on time, and with quality, security and reliability as top priorities

· Contribute to continuous improvement in operations and processes within the team, including review team members' work to maintain high standards and code quality

· Work closely with international development teams and partners (including SAP)

· Participate in go-to-market activities, supporting Product Management, Sales, Professional Services and Solutions Consulting Teams

· Engage directly with customers to support their success

About You

You’re a fit for the role of Lead Software Development Engineer (SAP) if you have the following required qualifications:

· Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or Engineering

· 10+ years of SAP ABAP development experience, and at least 2 years in a lead role

· Deep expertise in OOP concepts (Singleton, Abstract classes, Inheritance, Polymorphism) beyond basic ALV/BADI usage

· Strong experience with web services (WSDL, SOAP, XML payload), Proxies, and SOAMANAGER, including knowledge of SAP integration middleware and modern APIs (REST, JSON, OData)

· Expert knowledge of all SAP enhancement techniques (User Exits, BADIs, Enhancement Points) aligned with SAP’s clean core principles

· Proven expertise in building configurable, scalable solutions with adherence to SAP’s coding best practises

· Fluency in English with excellent communication, presentation, and customer-facing skills

· Highly self-motivated and organized with strong planning abilities

· Ability to multi-task, thrive under tight deadlines, and excel in a fast-paced product development environment

Additional preferred qualifications include:

· Previous experience with External Tax Determination or E-Invoicing integrations and solutions

· Strong functional knowledge of SAP domains: SD, MM, and FI

Thomson Reuters complies with local laws that require upfront disclosure of the expected pay range for a position. The base compensation range varies across locations. For Ontario, Canada, the base compensation range for this role is $125,000 CAD - $175,000 CAD. Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual’s knowledge, skills and experience with consideration given to internal equity. Base pay is one part of a comprehensive Total Reward program which also includes flexible and supportive benefits and other wellbeing programs. This role may also be eligible for an Annual Bonus based on a combination of enterprise and individual performance.
