Lead Software Development Engineer - Test
Overview
The Transfer Solutions group is responsible for designing, building, and operating the technology that powers Mastercard’s next-generation payment applications—domestic, Cross–Border, and Bill Payments.
We are seeking a Lead Software Engineer in Test to join our Dublin team, focusing on the highest standard of quality assurance for our Cross-Border payments platform, specifically in the Treasury Management domain.
The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and developing test frameworks covering functional, integration and E2E testing for high-performing, scalable applications that encompass user interfaces, and APIs across distributed systems in the Treasury Management domain. You will work in a dynamic, agile environment, delivering innovative solutions using cutting-edge technologies.

As a Lead Software Engineer in Test, you will:
• Drive our test strategy forward through innovation and problem-solving. Elevate our overall standard of testing by bringing vision and insights to how we test.
• Work across global teams to provide coaching, direction and leadership to Quality Engineers.
• Partner with Technical leads and other developers to understand features, identify test needs and ensure that our designs have testability in mind.
• Partner with Product team to understand requirements and provide input into building User Acceptance Test suites.
• Perform demos and acceptance discussions with Product owners, communicating confidently with stakeholders.
• Monitoring of unit test coverage and quality gating. Ownership for smoke/integration across all environments and reporting on automation runs.
• Ownership of performance suite, test runs and analysis of results.
• Research and implement alternative test frameworks, tools and strategies to meet changing business needs.
• Execution of exploratory testing as required.
• Mentor and guide junior engineers, and participate in Quality Engineering Guild working groups to foster growth and knowledge sharing within the team and across Mastercard.
All About You:
• The ideal candidate is passionate about Quality Engineering, is highly motivated, intellectually curious, analytical, and possesses an entrepreneurial mindset.
• Proficient in designing test strategies across unit, regression, performance, integration, chaos testing, to ensure scalable and robust systems.
• Excellent hands-on test automation skills in Java/Springboot with experience developing unit, functional, integration/smoke tests using RestAssured, Playwright or similar test frameworks.
• Knowledge of public and private cloud technologies such as PCF, Azure, AWS.
• Expertise in container technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes
• Expertise in test reporting with Jira/Xray.
• Excellent command of CI/CD principles and tools such as Maven, Jenkins, Chef
• Familiarity with monitoring & observability tools, and system metrics.
• Experience in defining performance tests using JMeter, analysing performance test runs, identifying performance bottlenecks and coming up with novel ways to solve them.
• Proven experience in elevating test standards and spearheading quality initiatives.
• Excellent communication, documentation and collaboration skills. .
• Research and implement alternative test frameworks, tools and strategies to meet changing business needs.
