VicRoads is progressing too. In August 2022, we started on a new chapter when the Victorian State Government partnered with Aware Super, Australian Retirement Trust, and Macquarie Asset Management to operate registration and licensing services on its behalf.

We work collaboratively with the Victorian State Government to ensure we fulfill regulatory requirements, deliver State projects and safeguard customer data. The Victorian State Government retains sole responsibility for road access, infrastructure and safety.

  • Annual Salary Range: Up to $150,000 + Super

We are seeking a talented and driven individual to join our dynamic Technology Operations team. As a team member, you will play a pivotal role in working with our business and helping to support and provide engineering services to the digital platform.  You will work alongside a group of passionate professionals who are dedicated to delivering innovative solutions that exceed customer expectations.

About the Opportunity 

As a SaaS Technology Lead at VicRoads, you will be at the forefront of delivering seamless, high-quality SaaS services that enhance the digital experience for our organisation. This role combines technical leadership with strategic oversight, ensuring our SaaS platforms are secure, scalable, and aligned with business needs.

You’ll provide technical vision and architectural design for multi-tenant SaaS solutions, lead a high-performing team, and oversee projects from concept to release. Working closely with stakeholders, you’ll translate business requirements into innovative solutions, enforce best practices for code quality, and drive continuous improvement across service delivery.

Beyond technical expertise, you’ll mentor and build team capability, manage knowledge resources, and contribute to service improvement initiatives. By staying ahead of industry trends and emerging technologies, you’ll ensure VicRoads remains at the cutting edge of SaaS innovation.


About you 

You’re a strategic technology leader with deep expertise in SaaS architecture and cloud solutions, and a passion for delivering secure, scalable, and innovative services. You thrive in environments that value collaboration, technical excellence, and continuous improvement, and you bring strong leadership skills to guide teams and align technology with business goals.

You’ll thrive in this role if you:
• Have proven experience leading and mentoring technical teams delivering SaaS products.
• Possess strong software development and cloud infrastructure expertise (e.g., AWS, Azure) with a focus on SaaS architecture and scalability.
• Are skilled in defining technical roadmaps, solving complex problems, and aligning solutions with strategic objectives.
• Have experience managing full software project lifecycles, including scope, budget, and stakeholder engagement.
• Communicate effectively and collaborate across technical and non-technical teams.
• Are familiar with Agile methodologies, DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and modern programming languages (e.g., JavaScript, Python, .NET).

Desirable:
• Experience with containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes) and microservices architecture.
• Exposure to knowledge management and service improvement initiatives.
• Ability to develop business cases for technical solutions.
• Certifications in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) or ITIL frameworks.
