Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) is hiring a Lead Project Engineer, Data Science/Data Analytics for a Proprietary Program in Hazelwood, MO. This role is execution focused and placed within the Digital Infrastructure Segment (DIS), with a strong emphasis on Data Science and Data Analytics to drive technical decisions, metrics, and program outcomes. This role provides an opportunity to combine engineering leadership, program execution and data science to influence the next generation of digital capabilities on a proprietary defense program.  

 

Position Responsibilities: 

  • Lead project execution for DIS work packages that heavily leverage Data Science and Data Analytics capabilities (inclusive of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML)). 

  • Plan, coordinate, and manage cross-functional teams (software, systems, analytics, suppliers) to meet cost, schedule, and performance goals. 

  • Define work packages, allocate resources, track progress, and manage subcontractor activities. 

  • Establish and monitor performance metrics and analytics to measure technical and business outcomes. 

  • Manage Earned Value Management (EVM) reporting and analysis; support risk, issue, and opportunity management. 

  • Respond to changes in Statement of Work (SOW), assess impacts, and negotiate modifications to deliverables, costs, and schedules. 

  • Serve as Cost Account Manager (CAM) as assigned. 

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, suppliers, and the customer. 

  • Promote a transparent, inclusive, and collaborative team culture. 

 

This position is expected to be 100% onsiteThe selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options. 

Travel may be required up to 10% of the time; Domestically depending on business needs. 

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship.  An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required. 

Ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance 

 

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience): 

  • Bachelor of Science in engineering, engineering technology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science. 

  • 3+ years of technical leadership or project management on cross-functional engineering projects. 

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience): 

  • Level 4: 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience 

  • Level 5: 10 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience 

  • Active U.S. security clearance (secret). 

  • 5+ years technical leadership or project management experience on multidisciplinary projects. 

  • Experience leading projects using Agile methodologies, with hands-on proficiency in JIRA and Confluence, and familiarity with Microsoft Project for project planning and scheduling. 

  • Experience with, and interest in: Data Science, Data Analytics, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Agentic AI, Machine Learning (ML), dashboard tools & databases, business intelligence tools, distributed & cloud compute, and analytics-driven engineering decisions. 

  • Experience with DFARS finance rules, cloud finances (FinOps). 

  • Familiarity with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), software engineering, classified computing infrastructure, and DoD cyber security requirements. 

  • Prior work with suppliers/customers and experience as a Control Account Manager. 

 

Typical Education/Experience:   

Level 4 

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), computer science, engineering data science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience or non-US equivalent qualifications. In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard. 

 

Level 5 

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), computer science, engineering data science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience or non-US equivalent qualifications. In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Summary pay range (Level 4): $114,750 - $155,250 

Summary pay range (Level 5): $140,250 - $189,750
