The Space Intelligence & Weapons Systems (SI&WS) division is seeking a Cruise Missile Systems (CMS) Program Chief Engineer, located in St. Charles, MO.  This role is crucial for overseeing the execution of the Precision Engagement Systems (PES) Cruise Missile Systems (CMS) Engineering Team, specifically in support of the Harpoon Coastal Defense System (HCDS) Launch System program.

As the Program Chief Engineer (PCE), you will guide the engineering activities of the program, ensuring safety, technical quality, and integrity throughout product design, development, production, and mission success.  You will serve as the primary engineering authority and the main technical liaison with customers, team members, and suppliers.  Reporting to the Chief Engineer of Boeing Cruise Missile Systems, your focus will be on the development, qualification, certification, and production aspects of a significant program.

The Boeing Cruise Missile Systems portfolio includes medium and long-range weapon systems launched from ships, aircraft, land, and submarines, featuring the Harpoon Weapon System and the Standoff Land Attack Missile Expanded Response.  Our division supports the U.S. Department of Defense and over 30 international clients.

Position Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Chief Engineer for the HCDS Launch System Program, overseeing and approving technical strategies, integrated plans, products, procedures, and processes

  • Supervise all facets of program engineering and Integrated Product Teams throughout the define, build, support, and production phases

  • Ensure the engineering integrity, safety, and quality of all products, adhering to company processes and guaranteeing technical excellence in design, development, and production

  • Accountable for the program's adherence to cost, schedule, technical, and compliance requirements

  • Act as the senior technical point of contact for executive leadership, other functions, and customers, formulating and communicating the engineering position as needed

  • Drive the execution of the program's engineering scope of work and manage the technical baseline, including specifications, configuration, design, and certification/verification of the product

  • Oversee the program's technical status and communicate updates to internal and external stakeholders

  • Lead the Engineering Review Board (ERB), conduct independent reviews, and manage technical risks and opportunities, ensuring swift resolution of issues

  • Manage staffing requirements for program engineering and spearhead productivity improvement and cost reduction initiatives in collaboration with engineering functions

  • Utilize strong leadership, communication, and coaching skills to guide a team of high-performing engineers, fostering a culture of proactive technical oversight and rapid issue resolution

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement

  • 8+ years of experience leading (formal and/or informal) cross-functional engineering teams

  • 10+ years of execution and technical leadership on development and production programs

  • Experience with weapon system development, production and/or sustainment

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Master of Science degree in an engineering field of study

  • Production and development experience

  • Experience with process definition and improvement initiatives, including MBE/MBSE

  • Prior experience as the technical authority of an integrated product or role as a chief engineer

  • Experience with presenting to program leaders and to customers

  • Experienced written and verbal communication skills

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.  

Summary pay range for Senior (Level 5): $164,900.00 - $223,100.00
