What You'll Do:
Adheres to the general hospital standards to promote a cooperative work environment by utilizing communication skills, interpersonal relationships and team building.
Assumes responsibility for keeping informed about changes in hospital and department policies and procedures and participates in sharing updates with staff.
Provides patient care assessment and treatment.
Ensures patient evaluations and treatments are comprehensive, functional and according to the Standard of Practice.
Encourages patients and significant others in setting goals.
Recommends next level of care. Ensures quality patient outcomes.
Supervises support staff who are assisting with patient care by providing direction and feedback.
Maintains accurate documentation.
Completes written patient evaluations, progress notes, and discharge notes per policy.
Ensures accurate and timely documentation of patient/family education, charges and departmental statistics, and ICD-10 codes as appropriate.
Demonstrates knowledge of documentation requirements sufficient to lead staff in compliance and participate in chart audit process.

Adjusts individual schedules to meet the needs of the patient and department.
Promotes professional development and education to other health care workers and team members by providing representation on committees and demonstrating self-direction for continued education.

Understands changes/developments in the profession locally, at the state level, and nationally. Shares clinical expertise with other therapists, student affiliates, and other health care professionals.
Leads staff through projects in the areas of strategic effectiveness, clinical outcomes, clinical competency, or financial performance. Successfully completes/implements staff/program development projects to promote personal professional and departmental clinical advancement.
Serves as a clinical and administrative resource in practice area to advance evidence-based practice and/or improve operational effectiveness.
Participates in department staff meetings and assists in the formulation of goals and other planning activities as needed.
Maintains professional competence by demonstrating self-direction for continuing education and promotes professional competence of team members through defined projects as needed.
Communicates in a positive, professional and timely manner with patient, physicians and staff. Informs supervisor of issues and resolutions to potential problems.
Provides appropriate patient care in accordance with age/developmental guidelines. Demonstrates age/developmentally specific knowledge, skills, and abilities for the patients served.
Utilizes knowledge of age/developmentally specific data when assessing patients. Interprets age/developmentally specific response to treatment/activity accurately.
Maintains competence related to age/developmentally specific patient care by regularly updating knowledge of growth and development and the aging process.
Demonstrates initiative by triaging staffing levels, coverage and scheduling needs.
Assists manager/leader for program development, supply management, regulation compliance, operational effectiveness, professional competence, staff meetings and staff training.
Steps in to assist with scheduling (staff and patient) triage as needed based on staffing levels and need to cover for leader during time away. (example: assist with scheduling when co-workers are out sick or need to leave urgently.)
