Deputy

Lead People Partner

Remote - United States Full Time
Deputy is a global SaaS workforce management company with hubs in Sydney, Melbourne, San Francisco and London, plus team members working remotely across the United States. Our platform serves over 1.5 million workers and 375,000 workplaces across 100+ countries. We are backed by top global investors and recently achieved Unicorn status.

At Deputy, we’re improving the world of work, one shift at a time, for 80% of the world’s workforce: hourly workers. These are the dedicated employees who keep our world running – from baristas to nurses, cleaners to delivery drivers, florists to factory workers. Despite their vital role in society, most workplace technology has focused on those workers who sit behind a desk, but at Deputy, we transform the frontline. When businesses use Deputy, their workplaces thrive – the business is more profitable, compliant, and productive, while the workers are more engaged and happier at work.

We're becoming an AI-native company, a commitment that means you'll be empowered (and expected) to use AI tools and thinking in your day-to-day work. You'll have the training, support, and freedom to use AI responsibly and creatively to spark ideas, solve problems faster, and unlock new ways of working.

If you’re passionate about creating solutions that put people first and helping businesses and their teams thrive, join us at Deputy and make an impact where it matters most!

The Role

As a Lead People Partner, you will serve as a trusted advisor and coach to leaders and people managers across our Go-To-Market (GTM) organisation. This role is based in the United States, with primary responsibility for supporting teams across the US and EMEA, and additional support for APAC as needed.

You’ll play a critical role in shaping the employee experience for some of Deputy’s most dynamic and high-impact teams. Partnering closely with senior leaders, you’ll drive the execution of people strategies, support performance and engagement initiatives, and help build a high-care, high-performance, and inclusive culture.

This is a hands-on, strategic role where you’ll collaborate cross-functionally with People Ops, Talent, and Compensation & Benefits to deliver impactful people programs and scalable solutions.

What You’ll Do

  • Act as a strategic business partner to GTM leaders, providing guidance on organisational health, performance, development, and engagement

  • Partner closely with senior stakeholders (including executive leaders across GTM) to align people strategies with business objectives

  • Coach and support managers in applying performance frameworks (e.g., RAD, Radical Candor), leveraging AI-enabled tools to drive accountability and growth

  • Lead and support key people programs, including engagement survey action planning, organisational design, internal mobility, and succession planning

  • Provide day-to-day People Partner support including coaching, employee relations, performance management, and policy guidance

  • Collaborate with People team counterparts (People Ops, Talent, TA, Comp & Benefits) to deliver and embed global people initiatives

  • Own and drive initiatives across the employee lifecycle—from onboarding to offboarding—ensuring consistency and alignment with Deputy’s values

  • Analyse people data and trends to inform decisions and recommend actions that improve engagement and performance

  • Partner with leadership on organisational planning, change management, hiring strategies, and team effectiveness

  • Champion inclusion, trust, and belonging through thoughtful program delivery and role modelling

  • Identify opportunities to automate manual HR processes and contribute to the implementation of AI-powered solutions (e.g., employee support, documentation, screening)

  • Design and optimise prompts for generative AI tools used within HR workflows, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance

What You’ll Bring

  • 5–8 years’ experience as an HR Business Partner or People Partner in a fast-paced, high-growth environment (SaaS strongly preferred)

  • Strong experience supporting GTM teams (Sales, Marketing, Customer Success), with exposure to strategic talent acquisition highly regarded

  • Proven ability to coach leaders, navigate complex people challenges, and support organisational change

  • Confidence in giving and receiving direct, thoughtful feedback, with a high degree of integrity and discretion

  • Strong knowledge of US and UK employment law

  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to build trust at all levels

  • Experience working with modern HR systems (e.g., Rippling, Lattice, Lever)

  • A people-first mindset combined with strong business acumen and curiosity

  • AI fluency, with the ability to identify opportunities for efficiency, improve workflows, and bring data-informed, innovative ideas to the People function

Salary range $120,800 to $156,300 depending on experience and location.
