The pharmacy service is open on Monday to Friday from 8.30am to 8pm and Saturday from 9:00am to 2.30pm

How you’ll help us make health happen:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Lead Outpatient Pharmacist to provide professional leadership and operational management of our outpatient pharmacy team. This senior role combines the responsibilities of a Responsible Pharmacist (RP) with the supervision and support of other RPs, ensuring the safe, effective, and compliant delivery of medicine supply and outpatient clinical pharmacy services.

You will lead a responsive and efficient outpatient pharmacy service, ensuring patients receive timely access to medications in line with national and local standards, including those set by the Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS), General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC), MHRA, Home Office, and hospital policies. As RP during designated sessions, you will foster a culture of safety, professionalism, and continuous improvement.

You will be an experienced pharmacist with excellent organisational and communication skills to deliver a first-class outpatient pharmacy service. You will be confident in leading teams, managing pharmacy operations, and working flexibly across shifts.

  • Provide clinical and professional leadership to outpatient pharmacists and dispensary staff.
  • Oversee day-to-day operations, ensuring high standards of pharmaceutical care through supervision, training, and development.
  • Act as RP during designated sessions, ensuring legal, safe, and efficient dispensing of medicines.
  • Lead on regulatory readiness, including SOP development, review, and inspection preparation.
  • Communicate effectively across multidisciplinary teams to promote safe and effective use of medicines.
  • Deliver clear, evidence-based medicines information to healthcare professionals and patients.
  • Support continuity of care by contributing to the Inpatient Clinical Pharmacy Service where appropriate.
  • Uphold GPhC standards of conduct, ethics, and performance.
  • Ensure the outpatient pharmacy service is patient-focused, responsive, and professionally delivered.
  • Dispense medicines legally and accurately, performing appropriate clinical checks.
  • Provide patients with clear counselling and information about their medications.
  • Maintain professional practice in line with RPS and GPhC guidance.
  • Respond to individual patient needs and resolve issues promptly.

Key Skills / Qualifications needed for this role:

  • Registered Pharmacist with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
  • Master’s degree or equivalent in pharmacy
  • Proven experience leading teams and managing pharmacy operations as an RP
  • Flexibility to work variable shifts between 08:30–20:00, including weekends and evenings
  • Strong communication and teamworking skills
  • Clinical and hospital pharmacy experience (desirable)
