Lead Litigation Attorney

Remote Work Full time
This position supervises outside counsel in the management of some of the most complex property cases. You will report to a Director, Legal and will work in a team comprised of attorneys and adjusters.

Position Compensation Range:

$128,000.00 - $216,000.00

Compensation may vary based on the job level and your geographic work location. Relocation support is offered for eligible candidates.

Primary Accountabilities

  • Supervise outside counsel in first party property litigation in various jurisdictions within established corporate guidelines and the applicable code of professional responsibility.
  • Analyze file as litigation progresses. Evaluate cases and seek settlement as necessary.
  • Oversee outside counsel throughout litigation of complex claims.  
  • Review motions and briefs during course of litigation and provide necessary feedback.
  • Conduct legal research and draft opinions as necessary.
  • Observe court hearing and trials as necessary.
  • Stay current on state statutes and court decisions and analyzes how statutes and court decisions affect the interpretation and enforceability of the various policy provisions.
  • Triage and assign incoming litigation to team members.
  • Work with team members to set and achieve clear goals and to identify and implement opportunities for process improvement.


Specialized Knowledge & Skills Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience providing customer-driven solutions, support or service.

  • Demonstrated ability to carry out legal duties with minimum of general supervision.

  • Demonstrated ability to interact with tact, diplomacy, and persuasiveness.

  • Demonstrated ability to provide practical legal analysis in complex and sensitive legal situations.

  • Extensive legal analytical skills and experience.

  • Admitted to the state bar in the state where they are located or (1) admission to the bar within one year of hire for individuals who must pass a bar exam or portions of a bar exam to be admitted or (2) bar admission as soon as practicable but no later than 60 days of hire for individuals with diploma privilege or who are eligible for in-house counsel registration.

  • Juris Doctor.
