Lead Janitor

Location: Spokane, Washington (Spokane International Airport Tower, Felts Field Airport Tower, Customs & Border Protection Hanger at Felts Field)

Type: Non-Exempt

Work Schedule: Full-Time/ 35 hrs per week (Mon - Thurs 11:30 am - 7:00 pm) (Fridays 3:30 pm to 11:30 pm)

Compensation: $20.83 - $20.83 p/hr

Tessera is seeking a Motivated and Hardworking Lead Janitor with a positive and professional attitude.

Typical duties include but are not limited to:

  • Must always have a safety mindset. Follow industrial safety guidelines, participate in and apply safety trainings, and promote a safe workplace culture at all worksites.  This includes wearing proper Personal Protective Equipment as directed. Care and maintenance of vacuums and other small equipment provided to ensure safety and reliability. Report repairs necessary to CCS Mgmt. immediately. 

  • Offices, lobbies, conference rooms and other general areas: Trash and recycling is pulled, liners replaced. Dusting is performed, Floors are swept and mopped or vacuumed to include walk-off mats.  Interior and entrance glass is kept clean. 

  • Kitchens and Kitchenettes: Sinks, microwaves and other appliances are cleaned as contracts define.  Trash and recycling is pulled, liners replaced.  Dusting is performed.  Floors are swept and mopped.  Dispensers for soap and paper products are wiped clean and refilled to ensure customer access & use is consistent.

  • Restrooms, Shower, and Locker Rooms: Dusting, Sweeping and mopping. Dispensers for soap and paper products are wiped clean and refilled to ensure customer access & use is consistent.  Showers, urinals, toilets, and sinks are cleaned fully to include inside & outside of urinals, toilets, sinks + walls around each. Partitions are wiped down. Removal of mineral deposits is also required. 

  • Janitor Closets: Must practice good housekeeping and organization in accordance with EM 385-1-1.  Stored carts, bins, and equipment must be wiped down, and cords wrapped correctly prior to storage daily. 

  • Security: Responsible for following facility rules regarding your own access and care of badges, keys, and codes given and reporting of safety concerns.  Training is provided in this area.

  • Supplies Inventory: Will be responsible for tracking supplies in all three buildings and report needed supplies as directed to ensure adequate stock.

  • All Other Duties as Assigned.

Qualifications: 

  • Dependable and able to work independently with minimal supervision

  • Strong attention to detail in janitorial and facility cleaning tasks

  • Consistently follows sanitation procedures and quality standards

  • Effective time management across multiple locations

  • Professional, friendly customer service attitude

  • Clear and timely communication with management

  • Valid Real ID/Enhanced - Driver’s License; uses personal vehicle with mileage reimbursement

Physical Requirements:

Employees must have the ability to perform the following physical demands for extended periods of time with or without assistance. The physical demands of this position may be reasonably accommodated for individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions on a case-by-case basis. 

  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

  • May be required to reach, kneel, walk, stand, and use repetitive motion for several hours at a time based on position duties.

  • Work may require repetitive motion, reaching, lifting, kneeling, and walking. Standing or sitting for several hours at a time, climbing in and out of a vehicle, and up and down stairs may also be required.

  • Must have the perseverance to work effectively under pressure for extended periods of time.

  • A valid state driver’s license is required with the ability to obtain and maintain coverage by Tessera’s insurance.
