Plan, organize, develop, and lead the Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) program.Job Description
This position delegates the administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability necessary for carrying out assigned duties to establish and maintain an effective Infection Prevention and Control program (IPC). The lead will promote integration of IPC program components in collaboration with evidence based standards established at the enterprise level. The lead will be responsible for surveillance activities, prevention strategies, performance improvement, accreditation, and risk management activities related to IPC. Works directly and collaboratively with Infection Preventonists across the enterprise to achieve integrated IPC programming in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations that govern such functions. Requires a self-motivated individual who values patient and staff safety as the top organizational priority. Knowledge and/or an interest in safe systems and High Reliability Organizations necessary. Obtains strong communication, facilitation, and presentation skills. Possesses the ability to demonstrate interpersonal skills, such as interacting effectively with other health care professionals, physicians, upper-level management, regulatory agency staff, and the general public. Accepts increased complexity of work assignments, process improvement projects/initiatives that may be cross-departmental or system-wide with limited guidance. Serves as subject matter expert for infection prevention. Seeks opportunities to help others learn as teacher, coach, and mentor. Expected to dedicate additional time towards Sanford patient safety strategies and culture (SAFE leader trainer, coach trainer, new staff trainer, huddle board lead, etc.) and participate in other development programming.Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree preferred. If degree is in nursing, graduate from a nationally accredited nursing program preferred, including, but not limited to, Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), and National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN CNEA).Sanford is an EEO/AA Employer M/F/Disability/Vet.
