High level summary

The role primarily involves comprehensive project and renewal management activities focused on employee benefits plans.

Key responsibilities include managing plan design updates, serving as a resource for those reviewing and coordinating carrier submissions and rates, preparing and reviewing budgets, charters, and invoices.

The role requires extensive collaboration and communication through meetings, emails, and calls with client stakeholders, internal teams, and carriers. It also involves detailed documentation, integration with other workstreams, tracking action items, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and contractual requirements.

The Engagement Manager will lead and coordinate complex health and employee benefits projects and renewals for a large employer client. This role combines project and renewal management, benefits plan design oversight, carrier coordination, financial stewardship, and stakeholder engagement across internal teams, carriers, and client. The role will ensure timely, compliant delivery of renewals and associated deliverables, and provide strategic support.

We will count on you to:

  • Project & Renewal Management: Lead end-to-end renewal and project cycles, identify risks and mitigation strategies, and ensure on-time delivery of project milestones.

  • Plan Design Updates: Manage plan design change requests and implementations; act as a subject-matter resource for design impacts, eligibility, and contractual considerations.

  • Carrier Coordination & Submission Review: Serve as primary internal resource for reviewing and coordinating carrier rate filings, network/administration changes, and carrier deliverables; validate carrier submissions versus plan designs and assumptions.

  • Budgets, Charters & Invoicing: Review and manage budgets, charters, and client invoices; monitor expenses and ensure financial controls and transparency.

  • Stakeholder Communication & Meetings: Attend regular status calls and meetings with client stakeholders, internal teams, and carriers; maintain clear, timely communication across audiences.

  • Documentation & Action Tracking: Support project documentation, track action items, change logs, and ensure audit-ready records to meet contractual and regulatory requirements.

  • Retiree & Nonunion Plan Support: Provide ongoing strategic and operational support for retiree and nonunion benefit programs, including renewals, vendor oversight, and compliance.

  • Additional responsibilities, as assigned as needed, for other client work.

What you need to have:

  • BA/BS degree.

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in identifying, designing, recommending, and implementing efficient, innovative business solutions to clients' complex healthcare benefits challenges.

  • Renowned expertise and industry reputation in the health & benefits field.

  • Client-facing experience in a consulting environment.

  • Life & Health License

Marsh is committed to hybrid work, which includes the flexibility of working remotely and the collaboration, connections and professional development benefits of working together in the office. All Marsh colleagues are expected to be in their local office or working onsite with clients at least three days per week. Office-based teams will identify at least one “anchor day” per week on which their full team will be together in person.

The applicable base salary range for this role is $115,200 to $230,400.

The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and any applicable minimum wage requirements. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
