Job Summary: You will serve as a LEAD FIREFIGHTER in the S-3/5/7 OPERATIONS DEPARTMENT, FIRE RESCUE DIVISION of MCAS BEAUFORT SC.

Major Duties:

  • You will respond to structure fire, directs the operations of hydrantman, hoseman, and ladderman, makes forcible entry, ventilates structures, makes rescue, and performs salvage and overhaul operations.
  • You will respond to downed aircraft or aircraft emergencies, provides for scene control and directs operations of vehicles, handlines, and turrets to control and protect aircrews and rescuemen entering the aircraft.
  • You will perform duties related to wildland firefighting operations and techniques.
  • You will recommend and inform the shift supervisor on specific performance information to assist in subordinate evaluation, counsel employees and assist them in resolving problems.
  • You will perform engine company inspections, and building preplans, looking for infractions and the locations of local alarm and sprinkler systems, power, water and gas shut offs.
  • You will respond to medical emergencies and provides for the scene control, rescue and on scene stabilization for victims of fire, sudden illness, accidental injuries, childbirth and other events requiring medical intervention.

Qualifications: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Providing leadership for day-to-day emergency and non-emergency responsibilities and duties AND performing firefighter duties in relation to structural, aircraft, wildland, emergency medical, hazardous materials, urban search and rescue, emergency services communications, and fire prevention activities. Additional Conditions of Employment: This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision. Must participate in mandatory physical fitness program. An annual physical is required, to determine if physical ability is adequate for performance of duties. This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
