In the role as a Lead Financial Analyst, you will drive the accuracy and integrity of expense-related financial statements and reports by leading complex accounting processes within the Controller Organization. Oversee accruals, complex financial analysis, forecasting, and large-scale data management, ensuring all transactions are properly recorded, classified, and reported in compliance with GAAP and corporate policies. Proactively identify and implement process improvements, support cross-functional collaboration, and provide expert analysis to maintain the highest standards of financial accountability.
Key Roles and Responsibilities: Typical tasks may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Expense Management: Take ownership of aspects of expense accounting, including reviewing, processing, and accurately recording expenses for various vendors.
Accruals: Manage, calculate, and post accrual entries to ensure accurate expense recognition, in compliance with GAAP. Monitor and resolve discrepancies to maintain financial accuracy.
Contract Review: Analyze and interpret vendor contracts to identify accounting requirements, determine expense recognition, and ensure appropriate documentation.
Data Analysis & Subledger Management: Work extensively with subledger systems to track and reconcile expenses, investigate variances, and understand data flows across multiple platforms.
Software & Systems: Quickly learn and adapt to new financial systems and software. Leverage advanced Excel functions (including Power Query and pivot tables) for data management and reporting.
Process Improvement: Identify areas for process enhancement and automation, document procedures, and implement best practices to streamline accounting workflows.
GAAP Compliance: Ensure all accounting practices and reporting adhere to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) and internal policies.
Collaboration: Communicate effectively across departments, hold meetings with internal partners, and respond to ad hoc requests for financial data and analysis.
Accuracy & Timeliness: Maintain high standards of accuracy and organization, delivering thorough and timely financial records, especially where billing may be delayed but expense recognition is required.
Complex Data Management: Work with large datasets involving multiple vendors, requiring strong analytical skills to ensure completeness and accuracy.
Other Duties as Assigned: Identify financial risks and develop mitigation strategies and support audits and reviews.
Job Contribution: Serves as a trusted accounting expert, leveraging broad and deep expertise to creatively resolve complex financial challenges. Leads critical projects with independence, providing insights that influence key organizational decisions. Mentors and guides junior team members, drives the implementation of long-term initiatives, and collaborates regularly with senior leadership to support the organization’s goals and continuous improvement.

What We’re Looking For:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, CPA required, Masters preferred.
5+ years of related experience
Strong understanding of accrual accounting, expense recognition, and GAAP requirements.
Demonstrated experience in expense accounting, contract review, and subledger management.
Advanced Excel skills (Power Query, pivot tables, complex formulas, data visualization).
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking abilities.
Strong attention to detail, with proven ability to manage large volumes of data and complex reconciliations.
Effective communicator with experience collaborating across multiple teams and departments.
Proactive, curious, and driven to continuously learn and improve processes.
Ability to work independently, adapt to shifting priorities, and commit to flexible, extended hours as needed.
Ability and readiness to work onsite 5 days a week.
Our Lead Financial Analysis earns between $118,800 - $178,200. Not to mention all the other amazing rewards that working at AT&T offers. Individual starting salary within this range may depend on geography, experience, expertise, and education/training.
