Data Analytics & Reporting

BMO Finance is hiring a Lead Finance Data Manager to strengthen the consistency, quality, and explainability of Finance data used in management reporting and regulatory reporting. This is a Finance-led business role focused on defining and governing Finance data—standard metrics, hierarchies, mappings, and controls—so reporting is trusted, timely, and audit-ready. You will act as a Finance data subject matter expert, partnering with stakeholders across Finance, Risk/Compliance, and enabling teams to reduce reconciliation effort and improve traceability.

What you’ll do

  • Serve as the Finance data subject matter expert supporting management and regulatory reporting, clarifying definitions and reporting interpretations.
  • Own and maintain standard definitions for key Finance measures and reporting concepts (KPIs, classifications, accounting/reporting attributes).
  • Define and govern Finance hierarchies and mappings used across reporting (e.g., chart of accounts rollups, entity and line-of-business structures, product/segment classifications).
  • Strengthen traceability and explainability by documenting how numbers flow into management reporting packs and regulatory submissions, including adjustments and reclassifications.
  • Establish and maintain data quality checks and reconciliation routines; lead issue triage and coordinate resolution with clear ownership and timelines.
  • Lead Finance change control for updates to definitions, hierarchies, mappings, and reporting rules (versioning/effective dating, approvals, communication).
  • Translate Finance reporting needs into clear business requirements and validate that delivered outcomes align to Finance definitions and control expectations.
  • Partner with controllership, management reporting, regulatory reporting, and risk/compliance teams to support evidence, audit readiness, and consistency.

What you bring

  • 10+ years of progressive Finance data experience, ideally within financial services.
  • Hands-on experience with management reporting and/or regulatory reporting processes, controls, or governance.
  • Strong knowledge of Finance data structures and processes (e.g., general ledger, chart of accounts, legal entities, consolidation, reporting hierarchies).
  • Proven ability to align stakeholders on data definitions, mappings, and reporting rules, and drive adoption of standards.
  • Excellent communication skills—able to explain complex Finance data topics clearly to senior and cross-functional audiences.

Nice to have

  • Experience supporting reporting controls, audit readiness, and evidence packages.
  • Experience with Finance transformation initiatives (reporting standardization, close improvements, governance uplift).
  • CPA/CMA or similar credentials.

What success looks like

  • Clear, consistent Finance definitions and mappings used across management and regulatory reporting.
  • Fewer late-cycle breaks and reconciliation disputes; faster reporting readiness.
  • Improved traceability and confidence in numbers across Finance stakeholders.
