POSITION SUMMARY 

The Executive Recruiter role is instrumental in direct sourcing candidates for high-level specialized positions across all business units at Marathon Petroleum Company (MPC).  As a member of the Talent Acquisition team, this role operates as a strategic talent advisor to senior executives, driving proactive talent strategies, market intelligence, and high-touch candidate engagement to attract top-tier leadership talent.  This position will demonstrate strong executive presence, consultative partnership skills, and the ability to influence hiring decisions through data and insights, and external market intelligence.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manages the end-to-end executive recruiting lifecycle for critical roles aligned to current and future business strategy, including intake, sourcing, screening, assessment, slate presentation, offer negotiation, and close.
  • Partners with HR and business leaders to align on hiring needs, define executive-level candidate profiles, and shape targeted direct-sourcing strategies; adapts quickly to shifting priorities and changing requisition needs.
  • Conducts confidential searches with discretion and sound judgment; presents high-caliber slates and leverages market mapping, talent trends, and competitive intelligence to advise senior leaders.
  • Builds and maintains strong relationships with internal stakeholders and executive leadership; delivers clear status updates and influences decision-making through effective communication and executive presence.
  • Utilizes advanced research tools and techniques to identify, engage, develop and nurture long-term relationships with prospective and passive senior & executive candidates to sustain an engaged pipeline and a consistent positive candidate experience.
  • Leverages technology and sourcing tools (ATS, LinkedIn, job boards, and other platforms) and advanced search methodologies to identify, engage, and track talent pipelines.
  • Facilitates compensation discussions and negotiations in partnership with key internal stakeholders to support timely, aligned hiring decisions.
  • Manages external partners (e.g., executive search firms) as needed to extend reach and expertise while ensuring alignment with process, quality, and confidentiality expectations.
  • Monitors and analyzes recruiting metrics and process indicators to improve effectiveness and drive continuous improvement; ensure compliance with internal policies, legal guidelines, and governance frameworks.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, or related field is required.
  • Six (6) years of executive search or talent acquisition experience required
    • Demonstrated experience in successfully placing senior leader roles (Director, VP, and above) including ownership of full-cycle executive searches preferred

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and organizational needs simultaneously and work effectively in a fast-paced, high-output environment.
  • Maintains the highest levels of discretion and confidentiality when handling sensitive information
  • Ability to analyze data and insights to influence decisions and improve hiring outcomes

TRAVEL

  • Occasionally travel up to 20% required
