Job Summary: You will serve as a LEAD ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN (MECHANICAL) in the Engineering & Planning Division, Code 200 of PSNS and IMF.

Major Duties:

  • You will serve as the technical engineering expert on all HME systems onboard naval ships
  • You will serve as a Technical Coordinator/Team Leader of organized teams with responsibility for functional checks, test and inspection, material condition assessment of major systems.
  • You will conduct technical engineering investigations, research, and analysis for the solution of unusual or unprecedented technical engineering problems or in support of short and long-term engineering projects on assigned ships.
  • You will anticipate and solve technical difficulties in attacking and resolving problems and making significant technical decisions.
  • You will initiate and implement process improvement initiatives.
  • You will develop and coordinate technical training for both within and outside of the NWRMC Engineering Department.
  • You will act as design representative at meetings concerning problems encountered during ship inspection, repair and testing of HME systems/equipment.

Qualifications: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: providing technical engineering guidance and support by resolving critical repair issues to ensure proper maintenance and safe operations of naval ships hull, mechanical or electrical systems.
