Do meaningful work with us. Every day.

At Amplify Health, we’re looking for individuals with ambition, resilience and passion for healthcare, insurance, wellness  and digital technology. As a fast-growing business with the ambition of making people and communities across Asia healthier, we have exciting career opportunities available to help us achieve our vision.

The Lead, Engineering is a senior technical leader responsible for driving the design, development, and evolution of Amplify Health’s core product platforms. This role blends deep hands-on engineering capability with architectural leadership, mentoring, and strategic influence.

As a Lead Engineer, you will own complex technical domains, shape platform-level decisions, ensure engineering excellence, and act as a trusted partner to Product, Data, Security, and Infrastructure teams. You will set technical direction, reduce system-level risk, and raise the overall engineering bar across the organisation.

Responsibilities

1) Technical Architecture & Platform Stewardship

  • Lead the design and evolution of scalable, secure, and resilient architectures across core product and platform domains.

  • Own complex system and solution designs, including data‑intensive, cloud‑native, and security‑sensitive use cases.

  • Make and document high‑impact architectural decisions, balancing short‑term delivery with long‑term platform sustainability.

  • Act as a recognised technical authority, guiding design choices across multiple engineering teams.

2) Product Engineering Delivery & Execution

  • Own development of critical product and platform components, contributing hands‑on where appropriate.

  • Partner with Product leadership to shape the roadmap through technical insight, effort estimation, and delivery trade‑offs.

  • Ensure teams are well prepared for sprint execution, with clear scope, priorities, and technical direction.

  • Participate actively in agile ceremonies, driving clarity, momentum, and accountability.

3) Engineering Excellence & Quality

  • Champion best practices in software engineering, including code quality, automated testing, performance, reliability, and observability.

  • Review pull requests, set engineering standards, and ensure consistent application of best practices across teams.

  • Identify, prioritise, and lead the reduction of technical debt and systemic architectural risks.

  • Promote strong operational discipline, including production readiness and incident learnings.

3) Collaboration & Influence

  • Work closely with Product, Data, Cloud Infrastructure, Cyber Security, and Technology Operations teams to deliver integrated solutions.

  • Translate complex technical concepts into clear recommendations for non‑technical stakeholders.

  • Influence technical outcomes across teams and domains without direct line management.

4) Security, Risk & Compliance

  • Partner with security, privacy, and compliance stakeholders to ensure platforms meet regulatory and data protection requirements across markets.

  • Drive adoption of secure-by-design principles, DevSecOps practices, and infrastructure‑as‑code standards.

  • Proactively identify technical, operational, and delivery risks and lead mitigation strategies.

5) Coaching, Mentorship & Capability Building

  • Mentor and coach engineers at all levels, raising technical capability and engineering maturity across the organization.

  • Act as a role model for strong engineering judgement, ownership, and resilience in complex environments.

  • Contribute to building a high‑performance engineering culture grounded in learning, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Candidate Profile

Experience and Qualifications

  • 10+ years of relevant engineering experience, including at least 3 years operating at a senior technical lead or principal level.

  • Strong proficiency in one or more of: Node.js, React.js, Java, Python.

  • Proven experience designing and operating systems on Azure cloud, with strong knowledge of DevSecOps and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform).

  • Hands-on experience with automated testing frameworks and CI/CD pipelines.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Demonstrated success delivering complex systems in regulated or high-availability environments would be highly advantageous.

  • Proven experience leading technical design and delivery across multiple teams or domains.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field required; advanced degree preferred.
