A Control Systems Engineer works across different automation control software platforms to develop targeted applications for specialized applications. Their responsibilities span requirements definition, design, verification, and production, often within cross‑disciplinary teams supporting new product development and customer‑specific solutions. They collaborate closely with research, testing, and engineering groups to deliver robust embedded functionality activated through sensors, external controls, or system interfaces
As a Lead Engineer, Product Design and Engineering - Automation Control Software, you will be responsible for:
Leading the execution of software projects within the subsea control production systems department.
Developing and maintaining PLC and/or SCADA applications, including creating new functions, troubleshooting issues, managing source control, and ensuring code quality through best practices.
Reporting project progress and resource status regularly, and providing technical input to project plans as needed.
Collaborating with the global engineering team to ensure unit engineering meets contract specifications and complies with local regulatory requirements.
Taking ownership of key control systems engineering deliverables, including System FDS, Software Requirements Specifications, Software Design Documents, and system test procedures.
Preparing and reviewing project requirements, design specifications, software product requirements, and interface specifications.
Preparing and reviewing test requirements for software applications and units in accordance with defined Codes of Practice.
Reviewing engineering solutions to ensure cross‑project standardisation and optimal use of engineering resources.
To be successful in this role you will:
Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a Science‑based discipline, or possess equivalent experience.
Bring automation experience with strong expertise in PLC and HMI/SCADA technologies (Twincat Soft PLC and Ignition SCADA preferred).
Have hands‑on experience with industrial communication protocols such as Modbus TCP, CAN, Ethernet UDP, and OPC UA.
Demonstrate solid knowledge of object‑oriented design principles and modern software development methodologies.
Show deep understanding of software development processes, with a track record of driving quality and process improvements.
Use analytical tools effectively to support product development and problem‑solving, have proven experience delivering small‑scale engineering or automation projects.
Possess strong interpersonal, communication, and documentation skills, and be willing to travel to company‑assigned sites.
