Position Summary

We (Aetna Clinical Services Finance team) are seeking a dynamic Finance Director ready to step into a highly visible, strategic leadership role within Aetna Clinical Services. This is an opportunity for an established finance professional to shape organizational strategy, influence key business decisions, and lead a team responsible for the full financial management of our Utilization Management functions.

This leader will bring strong business acumen, exceptional communication skills, and a collaborative approach to driving outcomes. You’ll operate as a trusted advisor to senior leaders, own all day‑to‑day financial operations, and guide a team in delivering accurate, insightful, and actionable financial intelligence.

What You’ll Lead & Own

  • Oversee the financial execution and strategy for the utilization management organization. This includes managing forecast/budget and long term strategic plan, explaining monthly results and variances, owning the quarterly forecasting process, creating multi-year strategic plans, evaluating capital investment asks, and sizing/tracking productivity initiatives. 
  • Create an organizational culture with sound financial and governance processes. This includes driving a strong connection between staffing models, expense budgets and the hiring process for the organization.
  • Lead process improvements to streamline forecasting processes and oversee the creation of metric driven financial and expense reports to generate strategic insights for clinical leadership.
  • Collaborate and create strategic partnership with business leaders and influence financially viable strategies
  • Provide support for a variety of finance / business needs, including the development of monthly and quarterly reporting packages, budget presentations for senior leadership, and day-to-day ad-hoc analyses.

Required Qualifications

  • 7–12 years of progressive finance experience, ideally in strategic, analytical, or operationally‑focused roles.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead through influence, build cross-functional relationships, and excel in evolving, matrixed environments.
  • People leadership experience with a track record of developing and mentoring high-performing teams.
  • Proficiency in Hyperion and S4 Hana.
  • Experience creating and driving OKRs, KPIs, and other measurable objectives that lead to actionable insights.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Background in healthcare, managed care, or financial services.
  • Experience with P&L management, forecasting, financial modeling, and trend analysis.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify risks, opportunities, and strategic levers that influence business outcomes.
  • Advanced degree in finance, accounting, or related discipline.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$100,000.00 - $231,540.00


This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls.  The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors.  This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.  This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
