POSITION TITLE: Lead Digital Production Technician, Localization

LOCATION: Burbank, CA

ABOUT THE ROLE:

Position Overview

The Lead Digital Production Technician, Localization is a senior individual contributor responsible for advanced subtitle operations, including 3D subtitle formats, placement, timing, conversions, structural checks, workflow support, and technical problem-solving within the Digital Production team. This role specializes in subtitle localization deliverables while supporting operational integration through cross-training, workflow testing, and serving as a resource to the Digital Production team. Although not a supervisory role, the Lead Technician acts as a subject-matter expert, mentor, project manager, point of escalation, and demonstrates exemplary accountability and collaboration.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform and oversee advanced subtitle conversion tasks, including complex format creation, structural validations, and technical troubleshooting.
  • Review, triage, and resolve workflow issues; propose corrective solutions to team members or leadership.
  • Support development, maintenance, and refinement of SOPs, internal documentation, and workflow guidance.
  • Serve as a technical resource and mentor for other technicians, providing training and knowledge sharing.
  • Test new workflows, tools, and file creation procedures to ensure accuracy and operational readiness.
  • Ensure all subtitle files adhere strictly to client specifications and internal quality standards.
  • Participate in cross-training to support broader Digital Production tasks such as conforming, basic edit work, or DAM preparation.
  • Maintain strong situational awareness of departmental workflows to support operational continuity.
     

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Expert knowledge of subtitle formats, digital media standards, with strong QC proficiency.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to resolve complex technical issues.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey instructions and technical concepts clearly.
  • Highly organized and self-directed, capable of managing multiple workflows simultaneously.
  • Primary Tools: Advanced subtitle conversion and QC tools.
  • Preferred (for cross-training): Adobe Premiere, EZTitler, MacCaptions, Hybrik, Vantage, and Digital Asset Management systems.
  • Ability to support workflow refinement, training, and procedural quality improvements.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred.

This role is based in Burbank, CA and the base pay range for this role is $35.00 per hour. Actual amounts will vary depending on education, skills, experience, and geographic location.
