Our Technology, Data and Innovation (TDI) strategy is focused on strengthening engineering expertise, introducing an agile delivery model, as well as modernising the bank's IT infrastructure with long-term investments and taking advantage of cloud computing.

You will be working in the Transaction Monitoring and Data Controls team designing, implementing, and operationalising Java components.

Your key responsibilities

  • Owning the Developer Experience (DevEx) problem space for 40+ Engineers by continuously improving environment setup, automating manual processes, and reducing friction for engineering teams
  • Designing, building, and optimising our CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions to improve the speed and reliability of our build, test, and deployment processes, implementing and managing infrastructure-as-code using Terraform to ensure consistent, repeatable, and secure environment provisioning on GCP, integrating and managing automated database schema migrations using Liquibase within CI/CD pipelines to enable safe and efficient database changes
  • Developing and implementing robust observability strategies using GCP's Operations Suite (Cloud Monitoring, Logging) and New Relic to provide deep insights into application and system behaviour, state and performance
  • Defining and automating backup, restore, and disaster recovery strategies for critical data assets
  • Embedding security best practices (DevSecOps) into the CI/CD lifecycle, including static analysis, dependency scanning, and secure credential management
  • Researching and championing innovative DevOps tools, methodologies, and advanced deployment strategies (e.g., Canary, Blue/Green) to keep our platform modern and efficient

Your skills and experience

  • Proven experience in a senior DevOps, SRE, or Platform Engineering role with a strong focus on automation and improving developer productivity
  • Expert-level knowledge of building and maintaining complex CI/CD pipelines, with extensive hands-on experience using GitHub Actions
  • Strong proficiency in infrastructure-as-code, with demonstrable experience using Terraform to manage cloud resources in a large-scale, enterprise environment
  • Professional experience implementing and managing database change management tools, specifically Liquibase, within an automated pipeline and a solid understanding of data warehouse technologies, particularly BigQuery, including experience with its administration, security, and operational management
  • Hands-on experience setting up and maintaining monitoring, logging, and alerting using observability platforms such as GCP's Operations Suite or New Relic
  • Experience working with a globally distributed team requiring remote interaction across locations, time zones, and diverse cultures, with excellent communication skills
