With more than 180 nationalities represented across 131 countries, we have a responsibility to build a workforce that reflects our global customer base. We move 20% of global trade and are on a mission to become the Global Integrator of Container Logistics. To achieve this, we are transforming into a digital-first company by combining our assets across ocean, land, air, and ports with a growing portfolio of digital solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, and scaling of data pipelines, frameworks, and services that power Maersk’s enterprise data platform.

  • Act as both a technical lead and an architect on the data platform, shaping the design principles, integration patterns, and governance guardrails that enable reliable, high-quality data products.

  • Partner with product managers, data scientists, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable, production-grade data solutions.

  • Drive best practices in data modeling, storage, streaming, and orchestration across multiple domains.

  • Mentor and guide engineers on the team through design reviews, code reviews, and architectural decision-making.

  • Ensure platform solutions are cloud-native, cost-efficient, and future-proof, with a focus on automation, observability, and security.

  • Stay current with emerging technologies (e.g., Delta Lake, Lakehouse, Kafka, Kubernetes-based data stacks) and bring pragmatic adoption into the platform.

We are looking for

  • 8+ years of experience in data engineering, with at least 2+ years in a technical leadership or lead role.

  • Strong expertise in building distributed data processing pipelines using Spark, PySpark, SQL, and Python.

  • Deep knowledge of cloud data platforms (Azure preferred) and experience with tools such as Databricks, Synapse, ADF, and event streaming technologies (Kafka).

  • Proven track record in data architecture: data modeling, partitioning strategies, storage formats (Parquet, Delta), metadata/catalog management, and governance.

  • Experience designing and operating large-scale, mission-critical data platforms with high performance and availability.

  • Strong understanding of CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, and modern DevOps practices in data engineering.

  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills to work with cross-functional teams and influence architectural direction.

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
